So you reacon moving the filter will solve all the heated fuel issue ?
Could go all out and heat coat lines and rails and mayb throw in a fuel cooler

If it doesn't, then yep, fuel cooler will be next. Can't see myself needing to go that far though. The problem is pretty obvious.

Have you thought of heat insulating the lines, so they are not quite exposed to the turbo heat?

I could also try that. I've already had to do that to the gear selector cables. Also have a half a roll of insulation left from that job too...

Re: Bennoz 6A13 Conversion
Yeh tried the 044 in mine back in the day... no love.
So stuck with a big walbro.
Perhaps time for an external unit?
Let me know if you do get the 044 to fit... I'd still like to get one in mine.

Re: Bennoz 6A13 Conversion
I've made a couple of mock ups of tank lids. One I ground out a bunch of metal so the pump would slide straight in & just stick out the top by 10mm, the other, mounting the pump on a 45 degree angle down (as the tank aint deep enough to hold it vertically.)
Alternatively, what I can do, is mount it up under the car & have it fed by the standard pump. Only problem with that, there's f**k all space underneath to fit it, plus it will be super noisy out of the tank...
Im still pondering this one...

Noise can't be any worse than a diesel right?Bennoz wrote:I've made a couple of mock ups of tank lids. if you do it this way would it not still be the same as you have now in regards to flow?Bennoz wrote: Alternatively, what I can do, is mount it up under the car & have it fed by the standard pump. I'm thinking this as if you are feeding the new pump via the pump that you are maxing out, would it not still max out? As it won't be abel to feed the high flow that the new pump wants to take.
Or would the new pump pull the psi that it needs regardless?

Thats a good point Aza. So Ben is that true? What would happen if you feed the new pump through the standard pump?aza013 wrote:if you do it this way would it not still be the same as you have now in regards to flow?Bennoz wrote: Alternatively, what I can do, is mount it up under the car & have it fed by the standard pump. Re: Bennoz 6A13 Conversion
I don't know enough about pumps.
But thinking this through.
Should the pump be in a non functional 'open' state, then if you were to have a pump feeding from the outlet of the original pump, it should simply act as a straight through.
The limitation currently is only from the motor in the original pumps potential being met, not from the internal/ external diameter of the feeds.
However, should the pump have a 'close' function, whereby it stops anything being pulled through the pump, then that's a different problem again.
Thinking back to my walbro when it was new and just out of the box, I don't think there was any 'close' function...

Gotta know a bit about fluid dynamics to understand.
Easiest way to explain it, is that the stock pump will operate at 0 psi
Having said that, Im not going that way. Dumping the Bosch pump in tank.

Re: Bennoz 6A13 Conversion
Change of plans, Bosch pump simply wont fit in tank
I've tried all manner of bracketry & cutting & shutting of the tank lids assembly & it aint gonna work.
So... I bought another Walbro pump for intank and its gonna be the feeder pump to the Bosch, which I've mounted up under the boot.
Had some new fuel lines made up to suit it all, gotta pick them up from Pirtek this arvo
Then, I've just gotta wire up the Bosche with some fat arse wire & a relay, then just branch off a wire from the trigger wire on the intank pump to the new relay & its done!
Oh, apart from mounting the new filter up front, but that'll be easy enough.
