Key reminder buzzer fix!

Post by scracy »

Ever worked on your fto with the doors open? Does the "beeping" sound annoy the absolute crap out of you? Here's how you fix it:
1. Remove the 4 cover screws and remove cover from underneath steering column.
2. Locate fuse box on right hand side of the foot well and remove m6 nut that holds the fuse box in place.
3.Remove wiring harness under and behind the fuse box
4.Behind fuse box is where the "buzzer ecu" is located, unclip from top and bottom of fuse box.
5.You should now have a black box about the size of a cigarete packet in your hands.
6.Carefully prize this box open to reveal a circuit board.
7.Remove the zener diode (orange and black) marked "D5" with a small pair of side cutters or a soldering iron.
8.This will disable the key reminder function of this ecu.
9.To disable the reverse "beeping" on a tiptronic fto also remove the diode
marked "D3"
10.Reasemble in reverse the way you pulled it appart.
11.Your car no longer beeps when you put key in ignition or if you leave doors open with key in ignition. If you removed "D3" it no longer beeps in reverse either!

Cheers Scracy

Let me say, that buzzing annoys the fuken sh*t outta me!!! Boy does it!!

Lol.. and i've used stacks of electrical tape, never thought of taping the door button though!!

I think i'm going to use "daz_fto"'s method of "removing the buzzer" because, quite frankily, his takes 2 seconds :p

and i really don't mind it that much, only when i'm working on the baby does it annoy me...
