Re: The Suspension Thread
I bought one of those fender bars from Ultra Racing the other day, they are specified for a 96+ lancer and proton but not for the fto... So i bought one and tried it on however theres wavey bits on the fto where the top end connects to the chassis that isnt on the lancers (whole area is flat on lancers).
So it looks like it is already partially reinforced... and so wouldnt fit without some welding or something. (Have seen one welded on a mayalsian fto) But im kinda looking to sell it at the moment, unless i can find a place to weld it on... only $204 w/ free shipping to aus those ones on ebay.

Re: The Suspension Thread
i reckon to buy straight from malaysia might be a good option? even buy from singapore distributors and get them to mail it here might be cheaper.
but do remember, cusco is using aluminium while your is using steel.
aluminium =lighter+less strength+more ex
steel=heavier+more strength+cheaper

Re: The Suspension Thread
Yeah i would say the cusco's are a lot lighter but i'm not sure you can weld with those if need be. Although it says de3a right on the website so they might be a direct fit.
I know the your ones are steel they are fairly heavy i thought they may be a carbon steel mix because they're not as magnetic as i thought steel would be but they are farily cheap for that they're not mild steel. I think they're alright.

Re: The Suspension Thread
My latest addition
http://www.meganracing.com/product_deta ... 9&catid=54
http://www.meganracing.com/product_deta ... 0&catid=25
These puppies should make adjusting camber and toe on the rear a little easier! Quality looks pretty good, though the rubber bushes are very solid. I'll be testing these at the racetrack probably mid Feb.
Bought them from these guys. $280 delivered.
http://stores.ebay.com.au/e-autosports
They shipped em within a couple of days, but had to wait over 3 weeks for slow as **** USPS to deliver em.
Hopefully they hold up to my abuse on the track
Part numbers are MR-6185 & MR-6186

Re: The Suspension Thread
Nice!!
Wish I'd know about them when doing my rear suspension a few months back
I went through hell getting the alignment right! Plus was limited to what adjustments
I could make...
Adjusting the camber automatically adjusts the toe & vice versa, very time consuming!

Re: The Suspension Thread
I wouldn't think so. The big advantage as Ben pointed out above is the ability to adjust the rear end, if anyone's ever tried this is a major pita and very limited. With these it should be a piece of pissAJ wrote:Are these too extreme for fast road use?
I just hope they hold up OK on the track.

Re: The Suspension Thread
for some reason i cant get the same amount of camber on the rear of mine (something must be bent)
would they have enough adjustment to get 1 or 2 degrees of camber?
hmmmm

Re: The Suspension Thread
Replace the camber bolts & washer Val, that's what was limiting me, worn camber washers (they were chewed out, hence couldn't be turned to make the adjustment.)

Re: The Suspension Thread
Or get ureself a couple of chassis stands, some string, a ruler, and a spirit level and do it yourself. Will be a better job than most of the tyre joints could ever do!! f**king useless c**ntsvipfto wrote:yip fairly simple and just need a wheel alignment afterValandis91 wrote:is it DIY'able?

Re: The Suspension Thread
James at tubular suspension systems has recommended WSC Racing from Japan for coilovers. I can't find any reviews or info for them but he says he wouldn't sell them if they weren't up to standard. Any one heard of these?
Also, what spring rate would you recommend I get? I'd like smooth for Sydney roads and these have 32 way adjustable shocks on them.
Edit - some more info. i asked about the spring rates. I thought that Tiens were something like 8 at the front and 6 at the back so I'd want something a bit softer than this. Here's what James said.
"The Japs rate their springs in KG
A 8 is way to stiff and on Aussie roads would rattle you car to bits
These coilovers come with 7 front which is 390lb spring and 4 rears 250lb which is close to what I would have put in it
This will still be firm for track use
Its also what they recommend for Aussie roads"
Does this sound like what I should go for?

Re: The Suspension Thread
I got a set of Tein SS a while ago they were 5kg front, 4kg rear i think still a bit too stiff. The dampers for them have to be set according to spring rate so they dont over rebound too much or under rebound and be too stiff.
I would go for 4 and 4 and adjust anti roll bar on the back to suit (smaller) and expect more ferocity in lift off oversteer, or go for 4/3 custom, or 3.5/2.5 or something like that. Depending on roads, some are smoother. If they were all concrete backed underneath could go up to 10kilos easily and not feel much discomfort but roads are shocking in aus sometimes.
Cusco make a nice set last time i check they also give you a range 4-7 kilo maybe 5/4 will be alright on cusco around your area i dont know...

Re: The Suspension Thread
Calling all Sydney drivers with coilovers! What spring rates do you recommend for a comfortable ride? I'm getting given so many opinions and need to make my mind up asap! Thanks.

Re: The Suspension Thread
I'd go 4/3. As mentioned above, just make sure its not just the spring they change, the shocks themselves must be revalved to suit the spring.
