yeah what astron boy said, change 2 gears at a time, if u hit it 2 times really fast it will go from 4th to 2nd skipping first. the tip will shift from 4th to 3rd at 43kms automatically on the 4speed and at 43kmph it will let you shift into 1st but this is the highest speed u can downshift to first (think your doing about 5k-5.5k revs though so dont take your foot off the accelerator or it will lunge lol obviously.

hate it when you go to change down from 4th but your doing just under 43kms and it changes once automatically and you change it once also and it goes to 2nd.... solution= change backto second at about 50kms :)

What the point of down shifting if your not even pushing it? Eg shifting down to 3rd at 40-50km/h?

noise and power... when i take a corner and i want to speed back up its good to be in third or second, also the exhaust setup on my fto is more setup for top end power rather than torque as its a 3" catback ( i know 2 and a half" would have been ideal but already had this 1)

lol @ this thread.

Just buy a manual, I don't see what all the fuss is about, doesn't even make that much of a difference with tip

semi automatic equiped sports cars are about the only class of car that outsell the manual models (especially the FTO)..... its not just me, other people realize what they have to offer.

Back on topic??? ive had manuals before and i would still rather a tip but i would rather a manual over a normal auto. if everyone agreed there would either no autos in the world or no manuals in the world

Only time you really need to change down is when you want to stop faster otherwise let it downshift itself

As for shifting up you should know when to do it by the sound of the engine

Well he is the original post whore after all.. With content

Anyways, in my opinion, downshifting(manual) with a rev match means a faster(maybe instant) downshift and better health for the gearbox & clutch. And honestly, I like the noise spike from the exhaust

Tips are ok if you are lazy or cant drive for sh*t,but after driving both manual and tip ftos i have to say the tips are really dissapointing accelaration wise,it just isnt suited to the small v6,but when it comes to shifting and downshifting ,they are awesome.
