AAAAAAAARGH!!! I think I've snapped my sway bar!!!

Post by gotboost? »

Ok, so I set out on the mission to replace my front sway bar bushes, drop links and springs...

Got halfway through the first corner of the car (front passenger) and ran out of time :?

So I undid the spring compressors and left the stock spring on. I didn't replace the bush, but I replaced the drop link.

I lowered the jack down and pulled it out from the car. All of a sudden... "creeeeeeeeeak...BANG!"

Anyone care to take a guess what it is?

OK, first thing, you can drive the car without it. Wont handle as well, but otherwise will be fine.

2nd thing, ive got a couple of spares. $40 + postage.

Yeah, I know I can still drive it but I'm not sure if it's the sway bar or not...

When I drove it this morning, there was a creaking noise when turning. :?

The bodyroll while turning could well have caused that noise.

Sorry, I meant drove it as in drove it to move it off our driveway. There wouldn't have been any bodyroll whilst moving that slowly. Also, I made a turn whilst sitting still, which also caused the creaking.

Got the chance to check it out again this evening... You're right. Incorrectly seated spring. That's one sound I do know!
