Could you please give some more information. What do you mean by a rebuild plate? I have no idea.

If you mean that the car (I mean motor and other mechanicals, how do you rebuild a whole car otherwise?) has been rebuilt I can't see that even a plate would be required.

On the other hand do you mean a car that isn't an evo 4 or 5 that is fitted with an evo 4 or 5 motor, if that is the case, you'd need and engineers report in most states I think, while in queensland you should be able to just get a mod plate, don't forget though that the brakes, suspension, etc, etc. All have to modified to be safe as well.

I think what he might mean is using a "local" plate, then use it & "claim" the car has been modify, but its actually a 'grey import" or along the line.

Am i correct here?

rebuild

Like FTO338 said, a genuine EVO4 or 5 currently registered as a normal lancer. Which means it has 2 VIN plates. One for the EVO CP9A and one for the lancer.

Been asking around but getting different answers (from work shop, importer..etc). What do you think?? Any help appreciated. thanks FTO338 n RallyMad

Plus, I know these cars cannot be imported like skyline n FTO, but maybe personal import. Do they still have 2 VIN then??

I've seen it done, & it can be done, but its a very long painful process. U need 3 different party to do it. So thats why u getting different answer from everyone, cause its not as easy as many people think.

you need to be carefull that it has not been bought in as a race car then someone has got a compliance plate off a wrecked lancer and put it on and used the licence plates from the wrecked lancer. You need to check with your local road traffic athourity as to the legality of the car.

Ah ok. I would think that if you got caught with an evo with registered as a normal lancer you would be in a hell of a lot of trouble. Not to mention I would think the car would be impounded by the police.

On the importing front, I've been told the compliance for earlier evo's should come shortly. Then again they have been saying that about FTO's for about the last year as well. Still it may happen one day.

And my understanding of imports are that the cars wouldn't have 2 vin plates. But the one original vin or chassis plate, and a compliance plate. Either a normal one or a personal one, they are different.

Oh and I can't agree more with danny. That's really something to keep an eye on when buying these sort of cars, not to mention badly modified and or thrashed race or rally cars.
