Aircon Bearing

Post by Apothus »

This is a fun problem......

Nothing like popping the botten to find smoke pouring out of a clutch....thankfully not on the drivetrain though.

Has anyone had any experience changing the clutch asembly on the airconditioner? My bearing has gone so whenever the clutch disgnage it makes a god-awful racket and after a while starts to heat up and smoke. So the bearing needs to be changed only i have no iea what is invovled in this asembly and ieally i would like to replace it without having to remove the compressor or cracking open the refridgeration lines.

Anyone tried this before or have any suggestions?

Without somewhat reason it would appear.

RPW have never dealt with them and the parts guys at the local mitsubishi dealer reckon there is less than 5 of them even in japanee warehouse.

So its off to the wrecker....

Yep, you can change them over without disconnecting the aircon (you do have to remove the belt though obviously). Kylies FTO was screaming like a banshee about a month or so back and it ended up being the bearing in the compressor. Just swapped it with one off another unit.
