Hi guys just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if its just me
normally my fto will sit about a needles width under half way on the temp gauge at all times now if I sit and rev the car between 3-4000 out of gear it will sit about two needle width's past half way and then settle back down. if I drive the car over 4000rpm again it will sit two needle widths past half way and then settle back down again after I bring it back under 3500rpm.
If I drive it under 3500rpm she will drive all day fine.
Im thinking maybe it might have been down to when I damaged the topend when I dropped the washer into the topend as it did slightly pit the top of the piston and also the head.
I just wanted to know if this might of been something due to the re assembly of the topend?
I might end up selling it off cheap at this rate!
Thanks
Andy

Can I ask how you bleed the system properly actually. Had a bugger of a time trying to fill the radiator after swapping the engine. Still dont think ive got it right.
I have posted this many times maybe I should do a sticky lol.
the most important thing is to jack your car up as high as possible..... oh bugger this I will try to find my post.

Me wrote:Ok the most important thing you need to do is jack the car up as high as you can, also if you can find a bottle and cut the bottom off it to use as a funnel and shove it the filler spout. Start the car and run till car gets to operating temp. Once at temp rev the car for 10-15 second intervals for about about a couple of minutes. The water level should rise and fall when reving the car. This will be because of the water pump. So if the water is NOT rising when you rev then, your water pump will be stuffed. Do not let the water level get below the spout keep topping up untill it just wont take any more. The whole process should take around 10 minutes.
If this doesn't work your going to need to flush the system again. To do that, pull off top heater hose, shove a garden hose into the filler spout and flush system until water out of the pipe in the firewall (heater core pipe) runs clear. Now place in funnel and pour coolant into the funnel, start car. Keep pouring until coolant starts coming out heater core. When it does re attach the heater hose and bled as per instructions above.

Thanks guys yea the system was blead properly to begin with as for the getting hot part that seems to of sorted its self out as its not happening anymore.
I just noticed today that it will not rev past 6 grand its like its hitting a rev limiter, maybe the stepper motor?
Maybe I should try dissconecting the battery to reset the computer?
Thanks
Andy

How long were you driving before you hit the false limiter? My car, for example, will hit the false limiter for about 10-15 mins after I've started driving, not sure about everybody elses, but somebody has said its to protect the car while its cold.

Thats correct. You shouldn't be redlining your car for a good 30minutes though for your oil temp to rise but it'll let you get away with it when your coolant temp rises a little, usually should only take 5minutes... If its taking 15 id be checking your thermostat!
