Commencing Respray
Okay so I'm gonna commence the process of respraying my car...myself. First thing's first, take off the front bumper sand it with some 400 grit, Put on the primer, sand it with 2000 grit then spray it..about 3 coats. This is my first time doing it so i figure starting small with the bumper as it will be a good practice item. If that goes well i'll start on the whole car hopefully next week sometime. I'll put up some before shots and some progress photos along the way.

Good luck! I went through the same sh*t and you need more than 3 coats imo.
You spraying in 2PAC or Acrylic? It's hard getting it right first time out. Don't skimp on the gun as it makes a big difference.

I've been away for a bit and driving too and from the sunshine coast a lot so I haven't had time to start this project yet :\ I'm aiming for mid week this week to start priming it up. And as for what i'm spraying...i heard acrylic is no good as it chips REALLY easily? So i guess i'm going with 2PAC.

Its 'the new black'

If you're gonna do matte black, do it now.... as everyone's doing it... there were half a dozen matte black cars at Auto Salon.

Re: Commencing Respray
Nah 2pak is really easy if you know how. It is a completely different technique than acrylic.
2pak is WAY WAY messier and more dangerous to your health and you NEED a spray booth, as 2pak would take fkn ages to dry without one. I mean weeks.
Acrylic, is easier to paint for the beginner and much cleaner and healthier (you only need a half face respirator with painting filter). However, you can not do all the fancy paint candies, metallic fleck, etc.
Acrylic wont chip as long as it has been prepared properly but that goes with any paint.
Regardless of what paint you choose, the biggest piece of advice I can give you is, strip the car, prepare the car (sanding etc). Put on a car trailer ($40-$60) and then hire a spray booth for a half day ($150+). You will still need a gun but at least you will be using their compressed air, which is THE most important aspect. You can do amazing prep work, have the best, most expensive gun on the market but if your compressor cant put out enough CFM or the tank is too small for the constant spraying, all that money and hard work is down the drain. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Commencing Respray
Yeah depends on what you are doing. Eg tight areas, you want to drop it right down. But it also depends on the type of paint etc etc
From memory I was running anywhere from 35-42psi. But because I didn't remove everything there were some areas were I dropped it back.
