Just installed a tip box from another car into the GR. After all the hassle of doing it, noticed the two inner axle shafts were slopping around in the diff.
Were there two different axle sizes fitted to the 4spd tip box?
The casting numbers are the same but the serial numbers are somewhat different. Everything fitted up fine except the axles....damn! just don't need this drama right now.
Any assistance appreciated.

Yep. Really should've grabbed the driveshafts that went with the box. There's infinite numbers of combinations used... 27 spline, 25 or 21 spline. Shafts ranging in size from 28 to 26mm...

Now that's what I didn't want to hear..
Any significance with the different sizes, ie LSD/non LDS/year etc?
and are the inner drive axles the same length, as in swapping from one drive shaft to another?

Yep, the inner length will differ depending on whether you have an LSD or not.
Also, aftermarket LSDs use the full length shafts as opposed to the factory shorter units.

That seems to apply to manuals..I take it tip box shafts are similar.
