Car rattles to a stop (exhaust leak?)

Post by snicholmeister »

Had this problem ever since I got my FTO; it's been bugging me but doesn't appear to have any impact on function. Basically when I turn the motor off it sort of rattles to a stop - almost like a wheeze. It sounds like an exhaust related thing, but other than this the exhaust works/sounds great. The only other time it makes a similar noise is when I'm in too high a gear but going too slowly. I'm not even 100% sure it's the same thing but it does make a similar sound.

I did a quick search with no results... has anyone encountered anything like this?

As I said it doesn't seem to affect anything really, just sounds a little crappy when I turn my engine off :(

sounds like a burnt out muffler or cat.
It will have some affect on the performence.
going fast doesn't kill you, it's the sudden stop that does.

I've got a 5zigen exhaust.. does that replace/include a cat?

If not, should I purchase a cat replacement pipe? Is there anything else that could cause this issue?

Don't know about the 5zigen exhaust, but pretty sure about ware the rattles are coming from, if it's the exhaust thats rattling.
