Broken front sway bar

So, today I heard a loud bang while driving out of a driveway and my front sway bar is broken. It broke on the left just after the bush.

My car is on BC racing coilovers at stock height.

Am I better off buying a second hand one or a new aftermarket one?

They aint all that expensive. $200 will get you an 18mm Whiteline one with all the bells & whistles (poly bushes to suit etc)

Is the whiteline one better than the stock gpvr one?

If anyone else faces this dilemma, Signature Sway Bars in Taren Point ((02) 9525 5619) are custom making me an 18mm sway bar for $276 delivered with all the bells and whistles. I will take some photos when it arrives.

They were hand made on a per order basis anyway...

My guess is that they either lost or damaged the jigs.....

I have a Fulcom 18mm one on order for 3 weeks still waiting told it may take 2 more weeks $330

Im investigating that. They make the 4 point chassis brace for the FTO, which is the same brace used on the Proton Satria & Wira (both use Mitsi suspension components.)
In saying that, they make an 18mm Swaybar for the Proton.... So Im gonna have a word with the UE rep next week to see if he can match it up or at least give me a sample.

Not for registered vehicle.Can not weld any steering components . It"s almost under that area. The trouble is that after welding it has to be stress releived and re heat treated .More cost than buying a new biger one.

Agreed ^ Plus I reckon the FTO is a little undersized in the swaybar department from the factory anyway.

Picked up my bar, fit it up friday ,Had to pull subframe down 50mm(so all 6 bolts have to come right out) I thread over the exhaust pipe behind subframe pull one side at a time down and move it in between floor pan & subframe.The busher are self lube but too tight Had to grind the side to fit brachet.Best of luck hope this helps .
