My to do list..

Post by gpx000 »

im planning to make a few mods to my car since ive finished school.

1) Haltech platinum interceptor
2) dyno
3) new rims and tyres (black shadow chrome maybe)
4) change fog lights
5) put a canon
6) HID
7) tint rear tail lights when the vinyl comes in
8 ) Leather seats
9) maybe get a simple body kit

and thats about it so far. the main thing that im working towards is a Haltech Platinum Interceptor. but i have to do a bit more research just incase i have to make a few mods before getting it.

Before you install the haltech, I would recommend getting your exhaust system upgraded (extractors too if you can afford it) and also upgrade the air intake to flow better. This is so that when they tune the haltech, they will be able to make the most of these mods and get you the biggest figures. Your gains will be more worthwhile like this.

oh alright i know the previous owner did some sort of modifications to the exhaust but im not too sure. ill double check what he has done to the exhaust and engine. i think the upgrade would just be the exhaust system. coz other members have insisted to keep the UAS kit in my car since its pretty good.
how much am i looking at for an upgrade on the exhaust system?

Keep your UAS system yes.

and get your exhaust done before you chip it because when you chip it your only re-tuning the car essentially, so you want it tuned to run with your new mods :thumleft:

100? seems little but the car seems really quick for 100kw. im hoping to make it pass the 140 mark or at least 130.

if i get a haltech how much will it increase by? and also just by theory, correct me if im wrong, the more power i put in the more fuel it will consume? will that be the case if i get a haltech?

Well you can get up to 18kws more with a haltech pending on your mods.
As for fuel consume I have found that the car gets more out of each tank.

Take a photo of your extractors, maybe AJ already had some aftermarket ones put in there.

And to your cannon, pleaaaase.... I know I have a cannon on mine too but I was very selective with it, but if you're going to get one, please so God help you, please do not get the cheap shite ones from autobarn/supercheap/whatevs.

And the muffler in that car already sounds good, I've really admired it that one time we were on a cruise to Dwayne's annual bonfire! Sounded angry!

Did I hear my name?

Yes, the car has the UAS CAI induction and the UAS engine flex pipes. The rest of the exhaust was already on the car when I got it. I've not done the extractors but if I were you I'd check that they fit the UAS engine flex pipes if you are going to do the extractors.

I love the noise of that car too. Check out the sound on the clip at about the 28 second mark...

might be able to clear this up a little

Stock mivec (GPX) will get approx 100kw at the wheels which is around 150kw at the flywheel. Thats why you might be thinking the figure should be higher. Most of the KW figures you hear are from the flywheel. Problem with this is some of that power is lost getting it to the wheels. How much varies on the car. Better to go off the measurement at the wheels as it is a much better indicator of power. If yours has a UAS intake and some exhaust mods, you are probably looking at more like 165kw (flywheel)/110kw (at wheels). A Haltech should get you to around 125 at the wheels if tuned correctly.

If any of this is wrong feel free to corret me, but that is my understanding of how it works. Hope this helps

V-tec is similar to Mivec, its Honda's equivalent of variable valve timing.

Its in Jap, but the piccies show you how it works:
