I managed to damage my rev counter whilst installing some EL dial faces.......
However I managed to get hold of another used set of clocks & I carefully removed the rev counter over into my clocks.
Now the new rev counter lights up fine, but it seems lazy & runs at half the revs, for example 6k engine revs are displayed as 3k.
What could this be ?
(I have a 1.8GS manual shift)

I've checked the old dial face & it was from a tiptronic & just as you stated a tiptronic uses a different scale.
On the TIP the 9k limit is at "2 o'clock".
On the MAN the 9k limit is at "5 o'clock"
However it has been suggested to me that it's because the donor clocks were from a 24v & I need 16v clocks
Your thoughts......

Pretty sure it'd just the scale difference matey.... So long as it's a manual rev counter, shouldn't matter if it's from a GS, GR, or GPX. Do the numbers on the Tip dial face match up to what yours is reading? Doubt mitsi would have gone to the trouble to have a completely different calibration for the GS. The only reason it's different for the autos is to make room for the gear indicators.

Interesting.... In that case the GS does indeed have a different scale to the GR and GPX. That's going to be a pain in the arse to replace.... What's damaged on your old one?
I spose as a 'livable' fix you could pull the needle off (gently, 2-teaspoons method), and replace it again at 600rpm when the car's warm and idling. Your revs wouldn't be reading right of course, but it'd look ok.
