Looked at Ubuntu years ago when I wanted something over Microcrach
Didn't much care for it, but may have been mostly due to driver compatibility, or lack there of.

Unsure if it's change much since...

I find its good to have something different to play around on, but since we are all brought up on the windows OS's we are used to them.

Linux would be great if everyone used it. Uses so much less processing power to run the operating system.

Its great as a server.

I have been running mythtv on a Debian box for the last 10 years. Love it.

Debian on 47" full HD TV ftw.

Ive dual booted ubuntu with my win 7 os and use it sometimes, its become n00b friendly and has lots of nice addons. You can always try it and if you don't like it then jus revert to your old os.

I have it running in a virtual machine in Vista, good for doing banking or checking dodgy websites.
