Dark weekend, help , help!
Hi guys,
bad news happened to me this evening. I got stopped by the police while driving home with an unregistered number plate. Because i totally forgot to renew my rego! Copped a big fine!
I paid for green slip so i escaped double fine.
The worse thing is due to the unregistered plate, i was not allowed to drive the car after the fine and it was forced to park by the road side along pacific highway.
Now i cant renew my rego, not even online, cos i need to do my pink slip. but i cant even drive my car to get pink slip.
solutions i have at the moment:
1)get a tow truck to get a pink slip
2)people who do mobile pink slip?
please help guys....i know. paid a huge price for negligence.

Re: Dark weekend, help , help!
when did your rego expire
pretty sure you can drive your car if its with in 2 weeks of it expiring but only to get the rego done ( cause think bout it they need to drive it to do the pink slip test ) might have to double check though
also dont no if this has changed but when i used to work for SDRO the rule was if you get your car rego'd then you dont have to pay the fine for driving unrego ( dont know if they changed it since though )

this was also on the rta site
When you can drive unregistered:
Unregistered light vehicles can be driven for the purpose of obtaining registration by the most direct or convenient route:
To the nearest convenient motor registry.
To the nearest convenient vehicle inspection station or authorised safety check station to determine whether the vehicle complies with the applicable vehicle standards.
In the course of inspecting or testing the vehicle to determine if it complies with the applicable vehicle standards.
To the nearest practicable weighbridge to determine the weight of the vehicle.
From a motor registry or safety check station where the registration of the vehicle has been refused, to the nearest convenient place where necessary repairs can be made or where the vehicle can be garaged, unless a direction has been issued that the vehicle must not be driven before the necessary repairs have been made.
From an authorised safety check station to the nearest convenient place where necessary repairs or adjustments can be made or where the vehicle can be garaged.
To the nearest convenient office of a licensed insurer for the purpose of obtaining Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance.
To the nearest convenient location for any other purpose directly associated with the registration process.

Re: Dark weekend, help , help!
thanks buddy!
turns out that i need to get my friend to drive me to my car today and park at a safer place. Then go back there again tomolo morning and drive it to the nearest mechanic and get the pink slip done and apply rego online.
once i got the rego receipt number, i should be able to drive home.
damage: driving without a registered number plate = $516
failure to display valid label = $86
the stupid cop just gave me the tickets and just drove away and left me stunned along the road for awhile....bastard!

victoria may be the revenue state but nsw fines are ridiculous, run a red light here and its just over 300 i imagine a lot higher figure in NSW, in vic u can buy a ticket for like between $35 and $50 for a ticket to drive an unreg car to mechanics etc for between a week and a month. you guys would have to have something similar

Um yeah, the key is to NOT to run a red, or drive unregistered or in fact, not to drive like a fukwit at all.
I got pinged for un-regoed years ago & even then it was fuking expensive. $490 for un-regoed which goes hand-in-hand with the $490 for being uninsured! Thousand dollar day out!

Re: Dark weekend, help , help!
its not always easy to aviod fines, cops are trained to defect cars.
example of defects: item hanging from rear veiw mirror, windscreen washer bottle or jets empty/not working, heater not working(demist function for windscreen), cop tryed to get me because tyres and wheels didnt match tyre placard, scoop/gauges/chip in windscreen in line of vision, subs not mounted to chassis, reflective material in instrument cluster etc
obvious ones: tyre conditon, seat belt condition, oil leak, bushes, screens active while engine running, pod filter, boost controller, ems, lights, wipers, tint to dark, lock diff, huge negative camber? etc
things that are'nt legal: rear spoilers that block veiw(people put signs on their rear windscreen) just have both side mirrors attatched lol, engine not running on all cylinders(not a safety issue), driving a dihatsu midjet lol etc
haha

Just wonder what'd happen if qld car drive down to syd?
Can police defect an interstate car? (eg. open pod filter is alright in qld as long as it's secured with brackets)
while nsw requires it to be enclosed.
