Just one more question, if i was to get from 40/17's to 35/18's would my overall ride height be higher or lower, i was hoping to be atleast 0.5cm higher as im scraping when coming into my drive way, .5 of a cm would defanately solve the problem
based on them both being 225's the 18" combo would be a total of 0.5cm larger meaning it would sit 0.25cm higher off the ground (bugger all difference).

my brother has 18" on them it effects his speedo by a lot... because when i go 100km/h im going at like 107 km/h, and at 110 km/h im going at lik 120 km/h
yeah for sure...although there was minimal rubbing for me...while backing out the drive way, I had some HORRIFYING scrapeage..
the tyre on full lock and while I was on 2 wheels (one back and one front due to driveway) the front wheel caught on the metal under the wheel guard! This was the "LEFT" wheel on full left lock.. have a turn and you will all the the but of metal with some spot welds in it
Anywasy, I cracked a major wabbly and went off my nut...grabbed my recipt and was gonna cause hell..
in the end, i couldnt be bothered cause I am in Brisbane and they are in NSW and I am happy with the wheels...so I took a small rubber mallet to it and now its perfect..no scrapes anymore and it was only catchin on about 2mm of a metal corner...it just made a hell of a noise
SO! check your tyres..I only noticed once the wheels were on (put them on as soon as i got them due to too much caffeine and over-excitement )
on my recipt it says i got 225/35..but hey.. i could chase it up..but fark it! I love my wheels and aint taking them off for NOBODY!!
Finally got the pic up where i fixed my BAD rubbing.
if you lower the car 2 inches at the front..and have 18x7.5 with 225/40 you may get some extreme rubbing when some pressure is put on the suspention..ie backing out of steep driveway on full lock..
To overcome this issue, i bent the small piece of metal that was actually catching on the tyre making a hell of a noise.
Take a look at the pic, and see that I have bent this back (rubber hammer thing and some pliers) I get no scrape at all now!!

naa, dont just hit anywher you see rubbing..cause the rub marks that are on the very inner part..they are gonna happen anyway seeing as though you have bigger wheels now.
Im only talking about bending/hitting back the small lip of metal that catches on the tyre. on my left wheel on full left lock, the bit of metal was catching at the back of the left wheel on the "outside" of the tyre, not the inside .
The inside rub is normal, you could say..
you will notice the difference if you get the catch that i did, the "normal rub" souds like you are just rubbing the tyre a bit...the other sounds like you are ripping the front panel off your car
i got my rims, i absolutely sh*t myself when the first rim was put on cause it was obvious that it didnt have any room to turn at all! But thanks to the guys at my local Bridgestone we managed to make some room
The inside of the my veilside front bar need to be cut a bit and the rubber matting that goes around the wheel arch was modified too, this only had to be done on the driver side front.
So all and all things are looking good, alittle rubbing at full lock but thats about it. Ill get some pics up asap
