changing oil

Post by bduffman »

Hey guys just wondering how often do you change your oil I've noticed tapping noise again the last day or two but oil was changed pretty recent and stoped the tapping after I changed it

Its not the tappets they were replaced in the last 5 months or less

For a non turbo every 10'000K's if you don't drive it hard every day.
For a turbo every 5'000K's.

I change mine when my lifter noise gets annoying (Always less than 10000kms).

The lifters are a joke! I mean if you can get a car 50 years old and not have lifter noise why do Mitsubishi's do? The only cars I hear tick are Mitsubishi's or car's using Mitsubishi engines!!

When I say drive it hard I should have added take it on the track. That is the hard driving I am talking about
But if you change it every 8000K's you will be fine.

First off the oil change depends on how you drive BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY what oil you use. If your using supercheap crap then every 5,000k, good quality brands 10,000k. Mobile one can be changed every 15,000-20,000km with normal driving and 10,000-15,000 with hard driving.

Oh and if you want to buy a drum of oil dont go through a mechanic. Call a oil distributor like east coast lubes. But remembe a drum has 205 litres so it is going to be expensive.
