Help.. noob

Post by jumpkid »

Hi and good day to all! I purchased a 95 GPX automatic 160k odometer 3 weeks ago for a very reasonable price.. (yes.. very cheap). so far so good, no problems at all.. then i had it done for a minor service.. the mechanic informed me that i need to bring it to mitsubishi dealer for replacement of this parts.. timing belt, Water Pump, Timing Belt Idler Pulleys, Timing Belt Tensioner and pulley, Crankshaft Pulley, Timing Cover oil seals, Drive Belts, Balance Shaft Belt.. etc.. ( stuffs i dont really understand, im not a mechanic)

Should i follow his suggestions? since i got this car cheap, im expecting a lot of major repairs on it which i dont mind bec i got the budget for it..

Thank you!

by the sounds of that, they wanna do a major service on it, which seems a bit weird. should have been done at 100,000kms not 170xxxkms.

did you ask them why they wanted to replace the parts or just told you they needed doing?

No, run like hell, or your 'budget' will disappear x 10 in minutes.

You in Marayong yeah? Im in Acacia Gardens. If you wanna bring it round Sunday, I can take a look at it & give you a reasonable estimate as to what needs doing & how much it'll cost you.
