bad news for you sweep.

i did the same thing to my old engine.

dropped a washer down the intake manifold, turned it over for like 5 seconds.
the washer bounced around in mine and killed a spark plug aswell and the washer was to large to be taken out of the spark plug hole.

but yeh you will need a new engine cause this one is completely f**cked

sorry man.

Its the front bank?

I will do it for you but your going to need to get a head gasket (I also recommend replacing the head studs as well but if your on a tight budget we can get away with it). Do you wanna do the timing belt and water pump while we are there or just the bare minimum

Simon you are a godsend!
The timing belt and water pump were replaced recently, I wouldant mind just doing the bare minimum because I am on a bit of a budget.
And yes it is the front bank, I have already removed airfilter, upper & lower plenum and I can remove the manifolds to save a bit of work.

On the flip side I have been renovating houses for the past 5 years and I dont mind doing some hard labour if you were to ever need a hand with you new land or house id be more than happy to help.

As far as the topend gasket is concerned, im not sure if I read it correctly or not but are they only available as a complete engine gasket set or can I buy them seperatly?

I have spoken to quite a few people who have had the same drama and must of got lucky and got away without damaging the pistons or valves.
So im going to cross my fingers for now.
Thanks guys

Im still not convinced the head needs to come off.

Have you pulled the exhaust manifold off & tried to get in that way?

Exactly as I said before, taking the heads off will be last resort IMO

I have spent the last couple of hours pulling of the manifolds, I ran into a couple of uncooperative bolts, nearly got them off now then ill spend the rest of the day looking for the washer.
I want to make sure I have done the most I can before simon comes over here.

There was a person on here about 6 months ago with a full set. Not sure of his name. Don't buy them yet though. If your engine is f**cked you don't want to waste yor money

My engines gonna be fine ;)
And if it is screwed, ill either rebuild mine or buy another engine in which case the gaskets will either come in handy or ill sell them on again.
Im happy to take the chance that way if simon comes over and we pull out the washer and engines good then we can stick it back together again save him making two trips.
I gotta stay posative.

Have you cranked motor around by hand slowly to move valves? via crankshaft bolt 22mm on harmonic balancer

Still no joy, opened the valves right up and had mi little magnet thingy & wire pokeing around but I did not get anywhere.
As far as the head gasket is concerned is camskill the best place, or does anyone know if I can get one in australia?
Thanks

Looks like im going to have to wait three weeks for the head gasket I got quoted $120.00 from rpw who have them instock, or genuine mitsi at $83.19 but has to be ordered from japan.
I thought that the rest of the prices mitsi quoted on the oil seals ect were quite resonable to.
