Thats sh*t luck, while we are on the subject is their any kind of preventative maintenance that can be done to lower the chances of blowing a head gasket apart fron replacing the radiator cap regularly?

change and flush engine coolant on regular basis, incl radiator and thermostat and dont forget waterpump every 100,000kms

always check water levels, main reason they blow is because not enough water in system and it overheats in turn causing it to crack

a lot of cars blow between 100000 and 200000 as well. but yes less chances with servicing.

Just get a low kms halfcut. Wait around, you'll find one.

Anything else (4g63, 6A13) will only cause you massive headaches (not to mention financial headaches.)

Okay one of dads mates has done a lot of headgaskets and things and has to store it in his shed and do it slowly over two months as well as other things, just before make that decision.

What about the 1.8L?
Shouldnt that go right in considering it comes out on the gx or whatever it is?
Isnt it just the 1.8 out of a lancer?

yeah i guess it would be so hard trying to get it back to the power of having an fto probably cost as much as a 6a13tt.

goddamn it.

Simon's conversion seems the way to go, but its still 10k.

I wouldnt mind 7-8k.

My car has had about 6-7k put into it to get it where it is now. That is not counting the new engine and things like that.
Best thing I have only put in about $1800 of that
I still have a long way to go on it too, that is if I keep this engine or do the swap.

You could do it with a Mivec simon rckns too, I had a talk about it on DIY day. You just need a tuner that knows how to tune mivec + turbo's fine. But apparently all the evo's have mivec and they are tuned with turbo's?

Valandis hasnt had proper tuners and hes just done cams, i dont want to do cams.

And yeah Evos have Mivec but is vastly different to the FTO Mivec (perusal thru turbo threads)

Yeah and ive read you can do a Turbo GPX engine but you have to use a galant oil pump?

And i read that another guy used a lower compression headgasket as well.

BUT. all these guys had prefabbed parts so it was easier and a hell of a lot cheaper. Or theyve done it on a GR like redlines cheaply, and ran very low boost.

I see you can get MIVEC to stay on so it doesnt cause as many problems but you lose a tonne of bottom end?

Im fairly confident i could get someone to tune it, theres so many differerent workshops in and around toowoomba and brisbane i could try.

Its just the fabrication! I have NFI, i do have an exhaust shop 200meters away from my house and he does make hes own extractors for v8's. Maybe ill have a talk to him, do i even need an intercooler with like 8psi max?
