Alternator voltage too high

Post by iGerman »

Hey guys :D

I have got another problem with my FTO. I put a brandnew alternator in at about 4-5 months ago. However now i have the problem that my voltage is way too high. When my car is off, the voltage is around 12.7 when i measured, when the car is running its around 14, but as soon as i drive off or rev the engine the voltage just increases up to 17 and more volts :S

I hope somebody can help me and tell me where the problem might be.

Thanks in advance :D

Sounds like the regulator on the alternator is not doing its job.
