Which sparkplugs do you use?

Post by Sweep »

Hi guys I know the spark plug thread has been covered a few times and I have read through the posts but I would like to clarify a few things, on the engine cover it mentions to use only iridium plugs I have read they also specify iridium on rear and platimum on the front as the rears are harder to change so the iridiums last longer.
I have also read of people useing iridiums or platinums all round, so I was just wondering what you guys are useing at the moment and are having luck with, so I can make up my mind on which to get.
Platinum # PFR6G11
iridium # BKR7EIX
Its a mivec v6.
Thanks Andy

Stick with the same all round. Only reason rears are specified to be different is exactly what you mentioned, they're an ass to get at.
And if DIY days have proved anything to us, its that taking the intake manifold off is a 15 minute job with the right tools

Im using platinums all round.

Valandis91, how come you use iridium and platinum is like i mentioned iridium in the rear because they last longer and harder to change? Or does it actually make a difference to how the engine runs?

vipfto, which iridiums do you use BKR7EIX?

Hi ben, any reason why your useing platinums all round and not iridiums?
Thanks

He's using 'Fusions' - they are a combo platinum / irdium plug.

Yes mate, they are the correct part number for NGK iridiums.

NGK Iridiums - BKR7EIX
Denso Iridiums - IK22

The Denso's have a finer tip which theoretically means better economy and power, but they only last about 40,00km's. Personally, that's long enough for me so I have them in all round

Anyone know what the spark plug gaps should be for the BKR7EIX series?
