Im seriously sick of my fto.

Okay guys,
I was taking off from the lights from a standstill i rev it to about 5500 and try to change to 2nd, it wont go in, i try again a 3rd time it goes in and tyres chirp.

then i tryed third and the stick seems jammed. I pull over and the stick is all over the place and is out of gear.

After a little pushing and shoving i get it into second, by the time ive gotten home i can get 1st,2nd and 5th. Whats the go guys?

I think its the gearstick cos it had all these broken little bits of black plastic. but im not sure.

Any ideas?

Oh and the clutch action is fine and there isnt any weird noises.

Check where the selector cables connect to the gearbox itself they are only connected by stickon rubber, some guys in the UK have bolted them together with small bolts. (If its that) But the little rubber dudes are fine if your a granny, not so fine if you really give it to it. So it could be that.

whats the best way to get at the bracket and cables in a gpx? i think i may have fucked one of the cables last night, just wanna check it out.

Best to pull the intake pipe out, then battery & battery tray just for the room to get in there.

Pull the clips off the cables first BEFORE undoing the 2 bolts that hold the bracket to the box.

The clips are the hardest part to get off. Soak in WD40, then use whatever leverage you can to get them up a few mm with a big screw driver.
Multigrips also help get them off once you've levered them up enough to get a grip on them.

are the cables adjustable? I'm looking down all options with what my gearbox has done to me, if I need to replace cables, bearings etc etc.
