You should totally get either of these and then come on the Coffs 2011 cruise and you can give us all a hair cut.

don't get the BMW. I don't know much about Z4's, however I have only heard bad things about them (BMW's that is) someone I know had a Z3, and she got rid of it because it was riddled with problems, was less then 10 years old, she was the 2nd owner and even had low KMs and she still had lots of problems with hers, mainly electrical. I had a 318I E36 (so not the base model but 1 tier up from the base model) and it was plagued with electrical faults...it's been at the mechanics for the last 3 1/2 months with them not being able to resolve the problem, and no prospect of it returning home anytime soon.
Apparently some of the BMW range from the mid to late 90's were recalled due to electrical faults, not just 318I's (Was told this by the guy at BM's R US in Melbourne...it's a wreckers) so perhaps do your research.
Other things I found that drove me & other people MAD!
* Can be quite thirsty on fuel.
* Parts are VERY expensive, and some parts can be difficult to find...However if your accustomed to the FTO might not bother you. I found one wreckers in Melbourne who pretty much has every part on hand, or can get it within a few weeks.
* Finding a mechanic; I found it VERY difficult to find someone that knew what they were doing with my car, but I live in a a reasonably small country town (Bendigo, VIC) and most mechanics don't know how to work on anything but a Commodore or Falcon
Plus the 350Z is a million times sexier, and probably has features coming out of everywhere. Jap cars always seem to exceed themselves.

I have a few friends with beemers and have never had problems, but these are almost brand new cars. Like a 125i, 135i etc. But yeah, one of the big downside is servicing is a little exxxyy.
Personally id take the bmw over the 350z but thats my choice, I would get a hardtop though.
But in the end its your choice lol so don't listen to us

are the z4 auto hard tops?
or manual?
gfs brother blew up his 323i engine the other day
cost their dad 5k to get it all good again
my engine was only 4k and that was including a clutch aswell
so i assume they are a lot more money than ftos to repair maintain like chantelle said

I would never own a BMW.

You own a BMW in the UK if you're a housewife or just a massive busineesman cock.
Many better cars on the market for the same price, that are better looking, rarer, and go much much faster.
For example:
UK BMW M5 with all extras 65k (pounds)
UK Nissan GTR Spec Black 64k (pounds)
Which would i own? Taxing question this one.

Depends. At my age I'd go the gtr. But if I was older I'd go the BMW.

Love bmw's
I drive a 318i as a daily and it gets me everywhere I need to go without a problem. 60L tank and 1.8L engine keeps me driving for almost 2 weeks
They can be expensive to service if you take it to a bmw dealer or certain euro mechanics, if your local mechanic knows what their doing then its shouldnt be too bad, especially if you sort out your own parts (wreckers ftw)

They are over priced, parts are stupidly overpriced, and they come with just a certain amount of "I love cock sandwhich" factor about them. Show me any BMW in any price range and I'll show you a better car for the same or less money.
