Tip box big problem

Post by MH999 »

Hey all a friend of mine recently bought an fto gpx tiptronic and after 5 days of ownership the car now will not go in reverse.

Before it was a llittle hard pulling out of park gear so we left it in the n position and i did notice a slight trans leak from under

the car but other than that it went perfectly.I checked the fluid and it looks ok so whats the problem can new trans fluid fix

it or is it badly rooted.thanks

If it comes to it, ive got a couple of spare tip boxes, but you are on the other side of the world. Freight would be murder.

So it's leaking oil and you are wondering why it's not going into gear when you start it?

Your oil levels need to be at a certain level and if your not, it will having issues shifting. So plug the leak fill the oil the recommended mark and see how it goes then.

If its still screwed take it to a mechanic.

Yeah check the oil levels! If it is too low then you would have all types of issues.

When my tip box went the first time I could not get it into drive, only reverse. Converter was screwed, so it was a rebuild.

So we took it to a mechanic today and it turns out that the aftermarket shifter knob wasnt installed properly which prevented it from going into reverse lol,so it was a quick fix.He found some other problems with it but there all minor. Not bad for a $4000 fto with a claimed 115.000kms
