Ok if in case my new stepper is replaced and i get the same problem, the next thing i would suspect would be the TPS since i also notice a drop in mileage, then ill look at the spark plugs&leads, then O2 sensor. Do these sound right?

i do remember them having to get more length as the O2 sensor slot on the hurricanes was a bit further, they did a bit of stretching but ultimately they took of a metal bracket and moved it up the cable and fitted it successfully.

Lately iv been noticing slightly bigger pops than normal from my exhaust which suggests a rich mixture, so the O2 sensor might be suspicious. Agghhh! possibly another $100 :? oh well.

:? thats strange though, it worked fine up to the 2nd day i had the hurricanes. Still cant shake the 'bad fuel' suspicion at the back of my head.

But if it is the problem then your wasting money on new steppers, o2 sensor, etc. :faceplam:

I will empty my tank and refill then see how i go. I don't mind having a spare stepper if it ends up not being the problem though.

^ Yeah im waiting desperately for it to arrive. I hate waiting for something at work for 8 hours that has not arrived at my house yet.

I say its the stepper too, when i tested it off the TB turning the key on, it does not shorten. Maybe its not supposed to when the engine isn't running, would not know unless i test a new one. Geez, how can the stepper fail so suddenly.

Definitely stepper. Why don't you put a multimeter to the stepper? You say you plug the stepper in, car runs fine then after a while it goes like crap again. Typical symptoms of a bad stepper. Sometimes your coils test find when cold, but test it after a long drive, you may see the residence out of spec which means screwed stepper or crap idle even when cold.

It's funny even after all these years of idle issues, if you have a idle issue go for the ISC first!!

^ used to be fine when i replug it, but now it seems completely dead, even when i reset the ecu, dead on cold start, dead on warm too. I dont have a multimeter too but planning to get one asap. Until i my new stepper arrives, im essentially driving with no stepper with the idle bypass completely sealed blocked(by a dead stepper). Its not a carbon buildup too since i ran a cabletie through the idle bypass and the cabletie came out the other ends no problem at all.
It should arrive today, I was informed of the tracking number and it has been sent. I really do hope they sent it via express as stated.
