3rd gear

Post by brad_gpx »

going into 3rd when my car with cold is quite hard
its feels like it clunks in rather than slides in

could it be a potential problem?
or am i just overreacting?

has been happening for a couple of weeks

Yeah mine is a little crunchy going into 3rd gear too,and also downshifting from 4th to 2nd requires abit of brute force but its totally normal

when its cold nearly all manual equiped cars will do it.

You shouldn't be putting it into first until your stopped anyway..

If its bad when cold, then the gearbox oil you are using is too thick.

If its bad all the time, try checking your linkage bracket:

Try Nulon G70. I replaced the oil to Nulon 75W-90 and added G70 and i felt the gear changes are noticably smoother.
