going into 3rd when my car with cold is quite hard
its feels like it clunks in rather than slides in
could it be a potential problem?
or am i just overreacting?
has been happening for a couple of weeks

Re: 3rd gear
mines manual and if the engines cold then the gear box oil is to if my engines cold and i stop at lights i have to come to a complete stop for a second befor putting it into first but when warm can go in while still sorta rolling 2nd gears the hardest to get into i wouldnt be to worried bout it unless it was clunking when warm

Re: 3rd gear
Yeah mine is a little crunchy going into 3rd gear too,and also downshifting from 4th to 2nd requires abit of brute force but its totally normal
when its cold nearly all manual equiped cars will do it.

You shouldn't be putting it into first until your stopped anyway..bduffman wrote:mines manual and if the engines cold then the gear box oil is to if my engines cold and i stop at lights i have to come to a complete stop for a second befor putting it into first but when warm can go in while still sorta rolling 2nd gears the hardest to get into i wouldnt be to worried bout it unless it was clunking when warm

Re: 3rd gear
If its bad when cold, then the gearbox oil you are using is too thick.
If its bad all the time, try checking your linkage bracket:

Re: 3rd gear
Try Nulon G70. I replaced the oil to Nulon 75W-90 and added G70 and i felt the gear changes are noticably smoother.
