A lot of men and women have died for this country and your right to vote... you could be 'voting' for the emperor of japan (there's still time for that if we keep going the way where going). I understand that politics might not be everyones thing... but have a little pride in your right.

I will never vote for a government that wants to increase the population to 50 million purely through imagration... when it takes an hour to get 20 km anywhere in sydney and we have massive water problems. What do they think is going to happen, that they'll all go to alice springs! Of course not, they'll will other populate and over run our major cites and surrounding suburbs.

And the first one that says not another lot of boat people will touch the soil of australia will have my signature on the doted line.

Btw does anyone know what is going on with that super fast internet thingo... when do we get it / is it still going ahead?

but i do agree with you

for anyone to immigrate to australia i believe they should have something that will be a positive to our country and not a burden. e.g someone who is qualified to do a job, whether it be a degree or an apprenticeship etc. if they have done something to ensure that they will contribute to society

however if someone comes to australia and cannot speak the language they do not belong here, the same with if they are completely unqualified.

Labor intends to push ahead with it, and have recently signed a deal with Telstra for the installation to be slightly cheaper and more efficient.

However, the Coalition intends to scrap the idea immediately upon being elected and has not proposed any other solid alternatives.

1MB/s? We have faster internet than that now...

It will provide theoretical maximums of 100mbps (12.5MB/s) down and 10mbps (1.25MB/s) up to private residences, but will be capable of much more.
