Not neccessarly easier but it would have saved some time in labour as they are going to have to pull most of that sh*t off again. But seriously if they charged 2k for what you got done then you can expect a head gasket replacement from them, anywhere from 3-5k

i reckon many seals cant be used again as they are already compressed. i leave to those experts here to pinpoint those which can be reused.

its funny cos your senario is exactly the same as mine. how can they not know head gasket is leaking after spending well over 4hours on working on the car, testing it after that. and then it leak almost immediately after returning to owner. it is so heart breaking...thinking that your ride is in good hands and money well spent.

nah in all fairness mate, If you have two leaks One higher then the other then your not going to notice the lower one until the top one is fixed.

EDIT and yes mate the rocker cover can leak from the back. In fact it can leak from the front sides back and middle.

wow very nicely explained, but im thinking, how much harder can it be, if they already pulled the cam seals out, isnt it easy to replace the rocker cover gasket and head gasket since they ripped out the cam seals. And another thing, im thinking, did they replaced my front or rear cam&crank seals, or both? coz they changed timing belt too

Rocker cover gasket is easy to replace. Head gasket is not as they will have to remove the timing belt again, remove the heads, etc etc. So basically do all the work they just done, again.

Well the timing belt can be done without removing the cam seals. So you would need to ask them or check your reciept. A mechanic SHOULD, really have given you option as it would be easier to do them when you have everything apart but also not neccessary if they arent leaking, so IMO I would have contacted the customer to ask what they wanted to do.
