bag of spanners

Post by Froto.gr »

Hi guys, the engine sounds like a bag of spanners because of the tappets,

car done 130,000kms so are they due a change or will i adjust them,

if i adjust them what are the alinements for them or what to do,

im going to give car service with some good oil and it should help also engine flush, but by the sounds of it i think it ill take more so what you reckon,,

At 130k they could use replacing, however if you cant afford it, they can be cleaned:

buy them from meek at $286 delivered, plus they courier them to you and mine reached me in 4 days. Took 4.5 hours to replace with no special tools.

They sound worse when you first start the car (leave it running for a while to fill them wiht oil), but since i changed them last saturday, my car runs sooooo much better.

Yep, start with adjustment (check for missing or broken plastic collets) then re-check for noise. If still noise, replace 12 hydraulics.
In fact, maybe even pull the hydraulics out & clean then while setting the adjustable units.

I know I know
having my car off the road getting fixed and 14+ hour days at work has not left a lot of time for me to get things going on the DIY day, but I will get one going verry soon for us.
