chasing details and history on 1995 FTO GPX from Perth
Hi all - chasing any information on 1995 Silver FTO GPX plate number 1CKC095. I purchased the car at a hail damaged auction and am chasing information, possibly the old owner for it's history.
Any help appreciated.

I live just south of perth and saw one of these hail damaged cars from the same storm... it wasnt an fto (it was a white camry) but the whole car... every panel looked like it was hit very hard by golf balls, one every 5-10cm apart... loads of them were written off and i can see why... very cheap to buy these cars too, just have to get all the dents out!

How much would you be looking at to get the dents out? (approx, say if the whole body is covered with them)

Would be $$$$$$ that is why they are written off..
A simple back to bare metal re spray for me was over 8.5k cash .. But that was for a bloody good job .. And there was some repair work needed...
But to pull out every dent, may actually require all new door skins, and panels .. It would be cheaper to probably buy doors, bonnet, & hood second hand then to have to pull out dents...
But yeah, depends on how much damage there actually is ...

^^^^^^ Yep this. If you were going to repair best bet would be to do the work yourself. Go to the libary read some books even take a short course. Its really not that hard, just very time consuming, hence why it cost so much.

broken window, air box needs replacing (pod filter mod been done - no good for rego), rear washer not working. Dents - mate whose a spray painter.
Everything else seems ok just chasing history - did the same with my corvette.
one question - mivec - how can you test it? can anyone describe it and at what rpm does it engage at?
the car is a 1995 gpx with 2.0 mivec engine at 85000 kms.
OH - im not really used to high reving engines. The Corvette is rev limited to 5500 but your doing nearly 250km/hr at that point - and no, i've never got anywhere near it. FWD is another thing i gotta get used to. One thing i'm gona miss is cruise control - getting old and lazy!

thanks

Mivec engages at 5,500RPM and goes until limiter, make sure the car is warm.. or it wont engage and you'll f**k your car up... but i'm sure you know this already
You'll know when it kicks in, you'll hear and feel it.

There is also a rogue guy in Mandurah who visits your place and has all the stuff to take dents out. So i went around to his place and he took a few dents out of my bonnet for $60 odd, while a proper smash repair place told me they wuold have to respray sand and all that. So there are some people that can do it cheap...
