Smoke coming out exhaust

Hey guys I was regassing my aircon today. I had to give it some revs so the compressor worked the gas around until it was full. I noticed smoke pouring out my exhaust and it smelt like fuel. Does this mean my car is running rich like fark. I don't think it is oil as the oil levels have not dropped as I check it every morning or before I leave home.

Had you only just started it. Cars will often smoke a little until warmed up. Especially with the cooler weather coming on (although it probably doesnt get cool where you are does it)

Haha never gets cold here lol. Um the car was hot as I drove to his house to regass it. But the smoke did smell like fuel and the car isint losing any oil. So it must be overfuelling I think

Well my rear is black if that helps and it isint white smoke u can see it still but

i have the same issue but i think mines cause when i changed the spark plugs oil got above the line when they screw in every since then its been smokey

If I held the revs up smoke came pouring out mytwin exhaust then when I stopped the smoke stopped

you most likely need to replace spark plug seals then

But wouldn't that mean the car would be using Oil wouldn't it man. The car was also on a slop facing forwards if that helps. I reved it when I got home an no smoke came out but I didn't hold the revs either

Mine blows a bunch of smoke on startup mate, same same. Turbos do thou...

Goes away after a few minutes of driving. I reckon its a valve seal or 2 that have gone hard after not being in use for what may have been a few years whilst the engine was being put in.
You'll find it will be oil burning, car wont use much but will need topping up every couple of weeks.

i check the oil in the car every time i start the damn thing haha. It is always full so lets hope it doesnt drop a lot somewere.

oh yeah ben might be getting the car retuned with cams retarded soon if i can pull some money out my ass to get the new exhaust.

Oh, and if we are going to be picky, somewere is usually spelled with a h. (somewhere), doesnt has an apostrophe (doesn't), as does Im (I'm).

But that is only if we are being picky

Since I have done my tappets (it is a GR), I am now getting a fair bit of smoke that does not go away once the engine has warmed up.

I did an oil change yesterday and i put in considerably more oil than I took out. I cannot see oil leaking out of the engine so I have to assume it is leaking into it. The rocker cover gaskets and spark plug seals both seemed to be in good order and were not dried out. I also reused my spark plugs because they are not very old.

I removed the coil packs from the front bank and noticed the middle one had a small trace of oil in it while the other 2 were clean. Is this how the oil could be getting in to the engine? I would have thought the spark plug would prevent anything entering the engine this way.

Should i be looking at just tightening up the rocker covers (I only tightened them finger tight) or should i be looking at replacing the spark plug seals or something else?

you should be tightening to the specs in the workshop manual .. don't leave any room for interpretation.

I only tighten things to factory spec when they're critical, such as head bolts. The poms tend to tighten absolutely everything to factory specs, up to & including wheel nuts A good hand nip up is usually all those rocker bolts need...

Having said that Dras, If it were me, I'd nip up the rocker gaskets a bit tighter. If that stems the flow of burnt oil a little bit, then we'll know the spark plug seals (little rubber rings on the inside of the rocker cover where the spark plugs go through) are shot.

If not, then we need look further.
