So Brenton & I went back to Melbourne again last Wednesday in search of a car for me. I looked at a Lancer done by the same guy that I showed everyone a link to a few weeks back, and a white GPVR that Brenton put up a link to.
But anyways I went to have a look at the FTO and we found that the power steering fluid was non existent, so made me concerned that there might have been a leak, or possibly caused damage to the power steering unit already, but it did have a decent amount of power and was totally stock, and came with front and rear factory strut braces, which lead Brenton to believe maybe it was personally imported from Japan. It said on the carsales listing that it had had the timing belt changed, however when I asked (I was testing him) he said that he didn't know, and the rear bumper had been replaced because it had been dinged, however maybe it was just me and Brenton but it seemed quite noticeable, Overall it wasn't to bad, but the guy seemed reluctant to move on the price, despite the imperfections.
The Lancer that everyone thought was really dicey (Including myself) actually comes with all these checks and documents, 12 months reg and a RWC. They don't paint the engine bay, which although it can look a little tacky because the original colour is still under there, I would prefer nothing to have been touched and just put up with it looking a bit tacky. It's not like anyone I know is seriously going to look under there, except me. I can also fully customise the Lancer in my colour, choice of 3 body kits, and have additional fogs installed, and it's also like 2k cheaper than the FTO, and is also a 2lt, it has 70,000 kms and when I priced having a timing belt done for a Lancer it's only $200 compared to $500+ for a FTO. Basically with the Lancer I pick what I want in a car (Sedan/Coupe, Year, KM's) he tells me what his found, I give the go ahead if I like it, and he does everything to it that I desire to it (Colour, Fog Lights, Choice of 3 body kits ect)
I've had pretty bad luck in finding an FTO that isn't screwed so I've pretty much decided upon the Lancer, but thought I would let you guys know what I was actually going to get.
Ciao

Well, good luck with the buy.
No matter what documents you get with the car, get it checked dammit. REV's check and a NRMA/RACQ WHO EVER YOUR WITH. It's worth it.
Stay around and come to cruises and we'll see you soon enough, then you will truly want an FTO.
