FTO84's Log

Post by FTO84 »

Gidday,

So I've been inspired by Kustom's thread and I thought that a good way to get a solid list of things I want to achieve with my car. Plus if I put it publicly, then it puts pressure on me to actually do the stuff. :P

The clarity of what I'm trying to explain will slowly blur as I get into the areas I know less about, so if you can give some insight, it'd be great.

Cosmetic:
Exterior: Front to back
Front bar - Need to change white front mesh with new silver mesh...
Mirrors - Need to get new motor in the right elect auto retract mirror
Roof - Need to get roof rust repaired.
Rear Spoiler - bit faded - want to get it resprayed.
Sideskirts - want to get new ones - not sure if just stock or not at this stage.
Overall - want to ultimately get the entire car resprayed a very deep rich red (not delving into burgendy etc, but more towards the ferrari colour) and clearcoat.
Wheels - I have the 17" red mags (as can be seen in my pics in the gallery) but am not sure if I want to keep these or go for a new set. The previous owner was not the best parker it seems and there are quite a few scratches/chunks taken out of them. If they can be reconditioned, I might go that option as I do quite like them.

Interior: front to back
Dials - Change to whites/blue lighting
Seats - change to Red/Black leather from ProSeat
Door - Red leather door inserts
The remainder I am hoping to leave as is - the interior is in pretty tops condition in terms of plastics etc.

Misc:
Engine: Want to get the 'slam boards' which tidy up/hide the engine bay front and sides generally.
Windows - Tint a car visit is in order.

Non-Cosmetic (aka - where things will start gettin vague :lol: )

Sounds are never good, right?

Suspension - Needs to be redone - there is a small crunch sound from the front left wheel when I go over any kind of rise at a decent speed. Am thinking it's the shocks - I was going to take it in to Pedders for one of their inspections and go from there :?:

Right hand side behind my head, what was that?! - Okay, when I turn right at a normal speed, there is a strange 'clunk' sound which comes from somewhere in the back pillar (between the back windscreen and the back 'window'. No idea what it is.. need to have someone look at it... treating it as low priority and hoping something essentail doesnt fall out and my car falls apart while doing 110 on the highway.. :|

Air conditioning - well, lack thereof - this needs an overhaul, for one, it's completely cactus, but I am not sure if it is linked with the clicking sound which comes from the passenger dash each time i start the engine and continues for about 60 seconds, then stops... no matter if the fans are on...off.... *shrugs*

Window rattle.... enuf said

Keyless entry

The sounds which are good

New speakers/install of sub/install of amp

New head unit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After those are done then I'll reassess and start a new list of mods.
I am going to order seat retrims soon - as I have had her now for a while and want to see something eventuate quickly - the gen Y in me coming out.. :P
Appreciate thoughts and comments - I know the roof is a priority - Am going to get a quote from the same guy Kustom got it done though if it was only $800 as I got a quote and it was $2200 near my house, I almost died. It's really not that bad (not broken thorugh paint yet)
Thanks!!
ah, so that explains why it looks crooked :P :lol: just kidding ..
i'm sure you don't have any major damage / bent subframes etc cause it probably wouldn't have been a repairable write-off .. sucks about the $450 .. :(
i like that idea..it's good to see what other people are doing to their FTO's / follow along with a project.. and it would help with actually getting things done cause you've made it public / people wanting updates :)
+1 .. Its a great idea for motivation for people to continue working on their cars.
And it saves PM'ing everyone to keep everyone up to date. :P
