Car was starting perfectly up until a week ago, I had the fuel filter changed
and ever since then it starting really badly, the fuel filter is NOT leaking.
Problem: on first attempt at starting car, it does kick over, but it starts
to "cough and splutter" and it sounds as though it isn't getting what it needs,
(what I mean by that is, when you change a fuel filter in any car you have to
prime the new filter before starting the car, if you don't, you get this kind of
problem, the filter had been primed and you only need to prime it like this once).
and then stalls, you start again straight away it starts perfectly. It is driving
great and this problem only happens when you haven't started the car for a while
like over night, it starts fine if it has only been like an hour.
Fuel filter is not leaking at all, even if the engine is running or not.
I only run premium unleaded in her. Any idea what is going on ??

its not holding fuel pressure when car is off usually because of fuel pump

Well, im going to throw that theory out of the sky, I thought
that it might be something along those lines too,
so she spent all day yesterday and last night under pressure, testing to see
if the fuel was keeping pressure. Tests came back perfect.
And, she started without a problem this morning, we are thinking
that it may be old or off fuel, (car has been of the road for about 8 months,
when I started driving again there was a quarter of tank of old fuel
in her, so I filled it up with premium, there is still a quarter of that tank still in her
now, we are thinking that that just needs to be burnt off)
so I am filling her up with some new stuff and time
to blow out any cobwebs she may have.
What do you guys think??

I didn't actually see the readings, but they were within spec.
I8A4RE, you have me thinking about the Fuel Regulator, fuel pump
is fine (if it wasn't it would have showed up on the tests).
Common signs for a fuel reg being on its way out is a lot of fuel
consumption, Im only getting about 450km out of a tank.....
and.... Black dusty mist on rear spoiler from exhaust due to it
running way to rich..... which there is !!!
How did I not see the signs.....

brand new of course and price ????

Well with that new info it could also be 02 sensor.
See the 02 sensor has a heater in it. When the heater fuks out in them then the can cause trouble starting on cold start up but when you use the car the exhaust provides the heat so therefore it will start easy when already warm.
What I would do is test fuel pressure in the MORNING when you said the problem was occuring not at night after the car has been in use. Test the fuel pressure after the FPR. If fuel pressure is still with-in spec. I would say it your 02 sensor which is the most common cause of running rich. If fuel preesure is not within spec then it is your FPR.
