- injectors blocked? not adequate? fuel pump going ok, might be a blockage of sorts in the fuel system.
- o2 sensor fucked
Do you see much fuel go through the exhaust system, afm sensor might be detecting too much uncombusted fuel in the exhaust system and trying to under-compensate fuel making it run lean? just a guess by the way. Tried resetting the ecu? any error codes?
These are just some of my thoughts, maybe someone with more experience can chime in.
injectors were cleaned and i had a new o2 sensor put in....
injectors are adequate as it was running insanely rich before.
also after this slight adjustment he made i got more torque down low. example.
doing 80 on the highway up a hill in 3rd gear went no where put it in 4th so dropped the revs and started picking up speed. its strange.
also went up the mount wellington last night and it did it so easily in 3rd the whole way up doing 50. did it so quietly and seemlessly whereas before itd be loud and take more effort, just some differences ive noticed.
O2 wont make it run lean however fucked fuel pump, filter or fuel pressure regulator will. Id be checking the fuel pressure first of all.
Do you have an aftermarket FPR?

i do have an aftermarket FPR, he adjusted it slightly for more pressure, dont know how much though, and i got more kw and nm across the board.
i honestly think its just autocraft being spastics
So ask them wht pressure they adjusted it too. They shouldnt just be adjusting it blindly. The should connect a fuel pressure gauge and know exactly what it is.

i didnt have time to fit the gauge. it was running so lean so any added extra pressure to juicen it up wouldnt hurt. how do u find out if the fuel pump has shat itself?

Might not have shat itself completely as you would struggle to start the car up if that was the case. It might be faulty or just not powerful enough for its current application ie. remapped ecu and power mods might be pushing it to its limits. Try a galant vr4 fuel pump (would be a good upgrade I reckon).

hmmmmm, maybe FUEL PRESSURE.

Its running like sh*t because its outta tune. Just get it dyno tuned properly & all your problems will go away.
If the standard fuel system is only ever operating at max 60% capactiy on a stock motor, its sure as hell aint gonna be much more than that with your setup.
Vlandis when I looked at u're map u sent me I was very concerned about the amount of fuel being subtracted. U said it was being tuned so I didn't say anything, but those afr's are very dangerous to your engine. U said it's not pinging, how do u know? If u're tuner is not using knock sensing headphones dump him and find another. Trust me I know, I lost 2 engines in my previous racecar to a tuner who claimed to be able to hear ping with his naked ears. That's when I learned about tuning, the hard way.
You should be targeting an afr under 13:1 under what, ideally around 12.5:1 for safety. The stock ecu on the FTO will maintain around 13:1 quite well. So any tune that is subtracting fuel is risking your engine. Also your engine doesn't have to ping to melt pistons. Power gains will be made in adjusting your timing, while maintaining your afr.
I'd be taking this to a decent tuner before you do anything, or at the very least add some fuel in across the board. With those figures I'd wipe your fuel map to 0 across the board until you do get it tuned. It's safer to run rich than it is to run lean.
Have you enabled logging? You can log the knock sensor from the engine to see if it's pinging.

Im going to have a play with my map and add more fuel right now. ill upload it to my car tomorrow and see how we goes. ill be adding fuel to the lean areas(pretty much whole map) but im going to leave the idle area as is because before it couldnt even idle.
i didnt go on this massive cruise tonight in my car cos of fear of blowing my engine although a mr2 did roll.
i cant wipe it to 0 cos ill foul my plugs. it runs incredible rich when set at that plus cant idle.
U're on the right path mate. Also use you're logging. I'd recommend getting a wideband oxygen sensor and wire this in as well with a guage, so you can visually monitor afr's while driving and log them as well. You can actually self tune the eManage by setting your target afr, but you would need a wideband for this. Apparently it works pretty good, but only tunes fuel obviously.
the tuner im after is fully booked out for a few weeks which is a pain in the arse but this will help.
sounds very handy that sensor.
speaking of sensors i bought my car with an oil temp gauge where the volt meter should be.
but it doesnt light up or have any readings.
possible solutions?
I use the Innovate LC-1 with a DB1 guage. Rocket Industries in Syd sell them, or do a google. These are probably not the best but not the most expensive either. And the eManage has built in support for the Innovate. I mounted my guage in one of the standard spots in the center of the dash.

had a bit of a play with the tune today. added more fuel but not in big amounts. but have seen improvements as it gets through the rev range quicker. and more grunt. it majorly needs the timing to be done though you can just tell its out of whack.
went to every auto place down here. they kept on trying to sell me a standard o2 sensor.
havent even heard of the thing.
giving it a service tomorrow. have a play with the tune again. good day ahead. oh and harass the guy thats meant to be tuning it to squeeze me in somewhere
That one on eBay is exactly what I have, except I have the red guage (red led's).
As for the tune without a wideband guage and knock headphones it's hard to know, but based on your afr's I'd be putting a lot more fuel in under power. Maybe try adding 5 points across the board and see how it runs. But log your knock sensor so at least you can review this afterwards. And only do one run through the rev range then check.
TBH I wouldn't be touching it unless you understand what you're doing. Book it in for the dyno as soon as you can and try to limit any driving until then. That would be my recommendation
today gave her a quick service. changed from motul turbolight 10w-40 to motul x-cess 5w-40. the engine is definitely loving the fresh oil/ also chucked in that map i made up andd she's running better now in the upper rev range but still need more fuel down low abit. im about to buy the wideband o2 sensor. i figure itll be good to have if i need to road tune in future and just good to keep an eye on things so i dont have to keep running back to the dyno. with that i can give her a good tune then get the dyno tuner to fix the ignition timing then we're set.
need to get my suspension fine tuned as well. not performing as well as i want. think my rear koni's are a bit too soft. and need to take it in to pedders to get that rear wheel sussed out. hardly have any time. to much work
lots of little things to do till shes running perfect
