Let me just say a few things ...

1) Yep, they were seriously talking about RBT'ing pedestrians. Not sure of the full details or what was acceptable, but yeah ... I guess in a move for pedestrian safety, as there are a lot of drunks that decide to run out into the traffic ....
2) How is an RBT an invasion of your rights... "Innocent till proven guilty" ... They are trying to catch people driving drunk, so as to lower fatality rates... I have had a friend run down by a drunk driver ... I support RBT's.
3) Why should you respect a cop ... Because they are in a level of authority .. Just like the old saying of respect your elders... Younger generations forget these simple little common courtesies, and this really sickens me .. Standards of people are getting lower and lower ... Sure there are some bad cops out there... And I have been the victim of a few of them ... But, I have also seen good cops who do a hard job, and get treated like sh*t from people like you ...

Grow the f**k up ...

And it is interesting to see the opinions and arguments here about smoking and the government .. Has made an interesting read ... Coming from a smoker that was well over a pack a day ... I am glad I quit 8 odd years ago ...

i do agree with RBTs
i believe they are there for a reason

however it still is an invasion, when i get home later tonight and have more time i will see if i can find more info on this for you


to polite cops i am nice and would not show them any disrespect and occasionally chat and say stuff like busy night? etc
its the ones on the power trip who come up and talk to you like they are pissed i will be an ass


i have respect for laws and regulations etc
i do not have respect for those who uphold them unless they do something to earn it
why should i respect someone for just doing there job?
i job that doesnt require massive ammount of training, a job that has fairly decent pay, a job that the majority of people in the population could do?

so why should i be polite and respect average joe doing the average job when he is a complete wanker?

before they brought out 1 passenger for red p's i didnt know anyone who dui (admittedly i was younger and didnt know as many people who were going out drinking) but now i can say about 50% of my mates do, even the ones on there greens just because they have continued the habit

Because any decent person should respect the role and value of others ... Regardless if you agree with what they do ...

As an example .... I don't fully support abortion, but I respect the Dr's who perform the task ... I don't agree with what they do, but, there has to be someone to do it + regulate it so there are not shonky people out there completing the task, or people not wanting kids injuring themselves and the unborn child to terminate a pregnancy... Same as Police .. Someone has to uphold law .. You would run straight to the cops if your FTO was stolen .. Or house was broken into .. Wouldn't you ???

So lets get this straight ... Out of Defence Force (Army/Airforce/Navy) and Police .. Hmm who gets the better pay ... Not the cops ...

OK, so pay isn't everything .. Umm who gets better benefits, like discount home loans ... Ummm .. sh*t .. Not the cops ...

OK, so who gets treated better in the publics eyes... Ummm ... f**k, its not the cops... So why do they do it ... sh*t pay, sh*t benefits, sh*t hours ... Get shot at every day (well maybe not every day) ... And have to put up with public abuse ... And teenagers thinking they are better then the police with no respect for law and order ... Gee this really looks like a job everyone is just rushing to do ...

Did you know there is an actual Police shortage...? They can't get people to do the job .. So it is only now, that they look at trying to up the wage, just to get people into spots... Then put them through the Academy in Goulburn as "Training" and throw them into the job ...

Because as humans we live in a civilised nation ... We should have respect for our fellow man, and give everyone we meet 100% respect ... Then as you deal with that individual, and they do something to violate what you consider a standard ... Well, take 10% off ... But then give them the chance to build that back up ... If we all did this, it would be a much more peaceful place...

Everyone has their model of the world ... (or map of the world), which makes up things morals, personal standards & integrity .. We may never all be able to uphold the same standards, but if we all had a similar way of treating people there would be less problems ...

As for drunken pedestrians.. I'm all for breathalysing them . But only I'd they're caught doing something stupid like running out onto the road.. noone should be done for manslaughter because a drunk idiot ran out in front of their car..

however i also believe more in "treat others as they treat you" rather than "treat others as you want to be treated"

they do a job that anyone could do that
there are so many professions that are being so much harder done by

e.g. a psychologist does 6-7 years of uni yet gets paid less than a plumber

Its not easy to do a cops job. What you see an officer doing is only the tip of the iceberg of what they are trained to do. Have you seen what they have to go through to be recruited? Vigerous training sessions, weapons training, diffusing confrontations to arrests to paperwork.

Could fatty joe do all this? Could a regulare person talk a hostage taker and actually do some good? What about face to face - pistol to pistol situations?
They aree there when there is a collision on the road? Robbery... I can go on all night

Just because you see a copper directing traffic or handing out a defect it doesn't mean that's all they do. They have authority, which is why they get respect. Don't show that respect and be ready to get slapped with a fine.

Grandfather after being a detective for many years ended up being a Chief Inspector for the Water Police ... Had his own boat too ..

My old man only got as far as First Class Sergeant ... Then he got out of the force... He was basically over all the bullshit from the public ... Getting called in to break up bikie fights, and being called into work when the Rebels and Banditio's would declare war on each other and go on killing spree's ...

So I can tell you first hand the life of a cop is no where near as good, or an easy job as you may think .. I have seen all sides of the scales of good cop/bad cop .. Dad's friends (good and bad officers) .. and the general assess on the street ... And the good Cops on the street... + also have had to live in a house where a low wage bought me and my brother up .. With mum having to work 2 jobs to also make ends meet ... So was raised as much as my Parents could do, and other then that it was my Aunty and Grand Parents that looked after us when our Parents were working...

ok some cops are good and some arnt we all no that
we see them speed we see them sleep on duty we see them stand around talking for 2 hours
but theres also a lot we dont see we see some of it on the news
but a lot goes unnoticed , i once wanted to be in the police force but they think there above the law , they get off on speedin parking u name it if there in a cop car they can do any thing they like , and thats y they lose respect cause they do every thing we do but we get charged for it
