Hahah prob Mr Cu*t!!! Seriously even if I did both heads I can't see where the costs come from as I do heads all the time, but thats probably from doing it myself as with head gaskets, its the labor that roots ya.

If I did it myself it would be a 200 buck job.

BS, the head bolts alone cost more than that.

Do you actually replace head bolts everytime you blow a gasket? I dont think so...

Rubbish!

You only replace them if they've stretched. Aka the shank length exceeds 96.4mm.

I've still got a full set here from my engine that the nos blew up & none of 'em are past that length threshold.

it cost less to replace the engine.

my old engine slipped a tooth and destroyed pistons and valves so i rebuilt it. 1 month later the crankshaft and bearings sh*t itself so i rebuilt it again. 1 month after that the engine gave up... so i replaced it... 4 months running strong

if your engine shows signs of giving up its more likely to fail in multiple areas so prepare for no $$$

How is it giving up if a head gasket is leaking?

Fair enough in your case but not a gasket.

Well the manual states that they are a one use only bolt then later goes on to say that you can measure them and if they are within spec you can use them...go figure.

I still wouldnt though, if you wanna do it on the cheap then thats fine but i wouldnt personally. I have seen the outcome from being cheap on parts like that but hey thats just my opinion.

Yeah depends on what mood your in, but damn if I had a head leak and had the ability to change myself I would definitely change the gasket first before changing the engine, as it's dead easy.
