carbon
Hey guys .
Just wondering why every one throws so much money at so called carbon products.
There like double the price of it non carbon.
Now theres only 2 ways we will ever see carbon.
1 carbon over lay using stock parts with carbon cloth over them.
2 fiberglass cloth math or kevlar with carbon on top.
The only diff is that you will have a fiberglass peice insted of mayb plastic.
Its not even that expencive to make.
If you buy the right tools any one of us could make them.
Option 3 for carbon you could never afford.
Only f1 and mayb the v8s and stuff use it.
dose that make it any better ?

Re: carbon
posibilities
1. carbon is lighter then say, a front guard made of metal
- my cf boot and wing weight less then half the originals
2. carbon is also an aesthetic mod, many people love the look of carbon
3. fake carbon vinyl is *~delightful!~*... did i mention fake?
4. coz its sooooooooo jdm yo
5. less weight means more speed, better handling
6. street cred?
7. carbon is stronger the fiberglass... its been told a viking was given a carbon hammer by the carbon fibre gods, he used this hammer in the battle of 604BC. its said he killed an army of 10,000 men and 2 trolls using it. true story
you either like it or you dont.

Re: carbon
but when guys are replacing plastic bits with carbon
thats when you should just use the over lay as plastic is lighter
i could make a fiberglass hood just as light with out carbon
people think carbon is lighter when its not its just a pattarn
its all fake the REAL i mean F1 car carbon stored in bit fridges till its ready to be used
is the light streath stuff

Re: carbon
No its not. Take a hammer to a fiberglass bonnet and it shatters into pieces.
Take a hamme to a fiberglass bonnet with 2mm real carbon weave overlay and it bends.
Carbon isn't just for lightwieght, its also for strength. Same as kevlar its stronger but heavier then carbon... But weigh so much less then normal panels

But only a viking could wield such a weapon anyway thus making this scenario improbable

Re: carbon
Carbon has it's place, IMO that place really isn't to dress up a car.
Hyundai Accent or something similar with a GT rear wing just screams
in much the same way as fake ass dress up bits.
Function over form tbqh, if it doesn't have a practical use it can GTF off my car. If anyone likes it, more power to them. Carbon boot and bonnet FTW, they enhance cooling and reduce unsprung weight; but putting fake ass carbon wrapping onto a car to me is the same thing as an NA car with an electronic BOV!
