The EVO VIII will be available here in the next month or two. I'd take it over an Eclipse any day.mrfto wrote:Does Mitsubishi Japan have any intentions to import some sporty cars into Australia?

this isn't really a question just venting some frustration
I got my full timing belt change, all belts, tensioners, oil seals, including water pump done for SGD $1000!
AUD500 for i freaking waterpump is a rip off!

My trusty Mitsubishi CAPS program says...Black_FTOGPX wrote:Do you know the part # for the water pump?
MD302010 - WATER PUMP ASSY
Double-check this please before ordering crazily expensive parts!

It's used in loads of different Mitsys, according to CAPS:
CB6A CK6A EA4W EA5W EC4W EC5A EC5W E53A E54A E64A E74A E84A
CB6A is Lancer/Mirage 1600(V6)/2WD(SEDAN)
CK6A is Lancer/Mirage 1800(V6)/2WD(SEDAN)
EC5A is Galant 2500/4WD
E53A is Galant 1800SOHC4VALVE-MPI/2WD
E54A is Galant 2000 MPI/2WD(MULTI LINK)
E6/E7/E8 are Galants of increasing excitingness.

Hi guys, i got an email this morning from one of my contacts.
He has answered some of the questions, but says some were to hard as he cannot find the correct person to contact.(understandable in a company with thousands of employees and your looking for one!)
I will forward any unanswered question to my other contacts. Most of the technical questions like about the fuel pumps etc, I should be able to have an answer for by next week.
P.S Danny he could not find the person for your co-efficient drag questions, but i think i might know which department to forward them to.
Give me another week or so and i should be able to have em anserwerd.
If you have any follow up questions my contact said he is happy to answer them and appoligises that he could not answer them all.
What is the minimum rating(92/95/98/100) of petrol suitable for use on
all grades of FTOs?
For 1.8L S4 MPI: 92 octane
For 2.0L V6 D4 MPI: 98 octane
For 2.0L V6 D4 MIVEC MPI: 100 octane
(2) Will the usage of a lower octane petrol result in poor economy and lack
of power/response
Yes
(3) On detecting pre-ignition, does the FTO's engine ECU simply retard
timing for a few seconds, or does it fully switch over to a low quality
fuel timing arrangement?
Ignition timing retard type
If how long before the engine ECU will again attempt to advance the timing
back to "good quality fuel" mode?
Ignition timing retard cancelation may require more than 100
kilometers drive (I was informed from a engineer before)
it possible for us to have access to some CAD (Computer Aided
design) drawings of the FTO.
No
FTO drawings are drawn through old MMC original CAD system.
This is basically 2 dimensional, and not accessible
(5) Is it possible for us to have access to technical blueprints of the
FTO.
Basically, Mitsubishi does not supply any copy of drawing to outside
6) Is it possible for us to be supplied wiring diagrams for the GR model?,
as currently the only information we have is for the GPX.
Was probably yes, on the service shop manual book
Sorry, I cannot find out the service shop manual in Tokyo HQ
(7) what is the most power the FTO Chassis can handle
FTO chassis durability was only tested with planed engine
specification in Mitsubishi
10)What is the Co efficient of drag for the FTO Gpx Nakaya Tune
This model is planed by a Mitsubishi local dealer
So, I think the Nakaya Tune FTO does not have drug coefficient data
(11) What are the specifications of the FTO GP. This is a pre face lift
model. It seems to be rare and have only seen them for sale in Japan on
a few occasions.
This model was planed as stripped off version of GPX, specially
targeting the young potential users
I cannot recall the detail of GP, but this model has three
exterior color, may be in blue, black, and red, with matched
front seat covers with knitted FTO logo
(15) Can you use the torque specifications from the 6A12 ( for engine
rebuilding )for tightening the bolts on a 6A13 TT ( Head bolts, Big ends
and Main Bearing Caps etc)
I think there are not existing such kind of data
(16) Is there a workshop manual in English for the post 1996 VR4 Galant
6A13 TT
I am not familiar with 1996 Galant, but may be existing
20) Why was the fto discontinued in 2000 when if Mitsubishi had marketed
the car overseas it would have sold much better and would probably still be
around today as another face lifted model. The world wide interest in the
car and cult status the fto is achieving proves my point. Are we likely to
see another incarnation of the fto?
The reason is the shrinkage of sales volume
The successor of FTO was not planed, also not expected
Was the 6A12 engine ever tested with a supercharger?
No
(22) Would the 6A12 be suitable for supercharging?
Problem is the size of fuel injector capacity
(23) Are we ever likely to see an eclipse sold in Australia??
Eclipse was sold in US, Caribbean, Europe, Taiwan, and Japan
Some Eclipse are sold through US Army
(24) I also desperately want the English version of the GPX computer wiring
diagram.
FTO was basically sold only in Japan
So, no service shop manual in English is existing
(25)And what type of airflow does the GPX have?
Volume Density type, similar system of Bosch D-Jetronic
30) Are FTO Fuel injectors mounted as top feed or side feed?
Side feed on intake
35) Where there any recalls done on the FTO?
Recently announced one recall on FTO
