Hey from a newby

Post by noccers »

Hey all,

My first post here and I just wanted to express my love for my FTO. I purchased her in November of last year (2005) for a mere 10.5k -- which included roadworthy and on-the-road costs. She was mistreated before I got to her, but I made the owner fix her up before she came in to my care.

Now, she's by no stretch of the imagination perfect, she doesn't look as good as some of the other FTOs I've seen around -- the paint is in pretty average condition, but I love her all the same. She's had very little modifications done, apart from a sh*tty lowering job, which with the way she bounces around sometimes makes her look like a chick with a double-E cup size trying to run.

When I purchased her I took all the battering from skeptics saying FTOs suck cos they're front-wheel drive-this, and bat-mobile-that. But stuff those nay-sayers; I purchased her because she was unique. I wanted to look cool and the lights and cooler when I thrash those nayers and their antiquated, ugly, il-gotten commodores.

And I must say, she does it every time! Now I can't wait to give her a make-over and make her look even cooler as she leaves the aussies at the lights wondering, WTF WAS THAT AND WHERE DID IT GO?!!

On the drawing board in no particular order:

New sunglasses (tinting)! the old ones are pretty raggid

Extreme interior makeover; re-upholstered interior (cheap job as I can purchase all the materials wholesale and do most of the labour myself), new dash, dials, rings, etc. Basically the interior wont look the same again!

New shoes, cos these ones do her no justice at all. including a proper set of lowering coils and all new suspension.

New dress, including all the frills new bumber, side skirts, front spoiler and rear spoiler, but same colour; BLiNGIN' black so you can still see me glimmer as I fly in to the night.

All new ICE as the last one was piss poor

2x7" LCD screens

CD/DVD/VCD/SVCD/MP3 dash player

XBOX (which will eventually be replaced by an in-car PC)

2x10" rockford "punch" 800W subs

2x rockford amps (maybe)

sound proofing everywhere

and a diesel generator to power all that stuff!! hehe

Some of that may be cut out and changed as time goes on and things change, naturally. I may even find that I can't put all the ICE stuff in, but I'll sure as hell try!!

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do to the engine yet. It does all that I need atm, so I'll probably just get her a new one, and do the obvious things like give her a new air filter, extractors and exhaust system, etc..

Well, that's the plan. Basically I bought my FTO as a project car so a lot of time and a lot of money is going to go in to her, and hopefully you guys will see her kickin' around melbourne.

We travel a lot so keep an eye out for the sexy GPX with the number plate RNA-### -- if you see me, give me a beep and a wave, don't be shy! But don't take offence if I look at you funny for the first few seconds.

Cheers for your time,

Dave ;)

damn, S1LVERFISH. You're literally around the corner -- my gf lives just behind the rowville shops on kellets rd and I live right near the doctors surgery on stud road -- after the stud/ftg rd intersection.

you don't happen to drive the red fto that I see at the wantirna campus do you? hehe

FTO338: I might give it a miss this year, I'll turn up with my FTO looks a little neater and sporting a few cool features if you don't mind ;)

Spud: cheers for the offer. I've already modded it with the x3 chip and it's sportin a nice 200g hdd atm -- just waiting for me to buy the screens.

All: thanks for the warm welcome ;) And I will definitly call on your advice in the future (don't worry S1LVERFISH, I'll make sure to call khunjeng and not you hehe ;))
