May as well post my issue up.

Not in the FTO.
The RVR.

When A/C is engaged, the engine hard core bogs down, makes the car shake rather badly, sucks a lot more power than it should from the engine, and really isn't that great in tyhe summer on a hot day.

I have gas, I can see the dye/ gas going through the sight glass.
Belts have been replaced, pulleys appear to be fine.

..... thoughts?

That'd be the compressor. More than likely the clutch.

yep :)

I've got the same problem... with the airco seeming to work, but the air never gets cold. When our cars were first imported, don't they drain the gas? I figured mine might just need to be re-gassed. But i was quoted $200 to re-gas with the dye in it. That sounded a bit steep to me.

2nd problem - the aircon switch which changes where the air goes (ie feet and face, face, windscreen etc) broke. Its stuck facing the far left and resists when i try and turn it. Any ideas? Someone did tell me that it was an easy fix, like taking the switch off and putting it back on, or something like that :?

Yeah that sounds like she's outta gas.

That whole climate control unit is really easy to get out, just pull your centre console out, then pop that whole centre assembly foward. Then behind it the climate control unit is only 2 screws & 1 big plug at the back of it.

I'd try pull it apart or jimmy the button back out. Otherwise dstocks will no doubt have a spare you could buy.

Yeah, $60 to $80.

One 'NRMA' approved garage tried to hit me $175

Supposed Mechanic: "Ah yeah, its $50 just to environmentally remove the old gas"

Bennoz: "You're a theif. F*ck off."
