Another disastrous day at the track
Started well, first session I slowly built up speed, getting a feel for the new suspension and confirming all felt well with the gearbox & driveshafts. Clocked a 1:15.1 before the session was ended.
Back to the garage and could smell something burning. Left front brakes!
At first it appeared I was down to metal on metal. I started the day with at least 6 to 7mm pad material so wasn't real happen to see that these $500 pads were worn out already!
Put her on stands and took the wheels off, nope, pads are fine. The rotors have just got really really hot (well over 600 deg C)! Hmm, all appears OK though.
Missed a couple of sessions stuffing around with my brake ducting, trying to get the angle right to get more air on the rotors.
Back on track just before lunch, brakes felt a bit spongy at turn 2, no worries, hard on it, down into turn 8, no pedal!! Time to bring it back in and jack her up again. The bottom piston on the left front caliper has sh*t itself!!
Day over...
But I guess better to do this at Wakefield then on Conrod at 200+ into the Chase...
Oh well, more money...
