Body Kits from UAS

Post by rock_it »

Hi all...

Well I thought this would be best in here, as it may tend to get a bit heated.. I want this thread to be productive, and serve as a warning, rather then bad mouthing a company ..

Anyway, as some of you may know, I have always wanted to put the veilside skirts on my car (like on Simon's) with the vent ..So when I had my accident, and were getting them painted when all the other insurance stuff was going through, I thought all my Christmasses came at once...

After a rather long wait from UAS they came in and went to the panel shop .. It was not long after that I got a distress call from the panel shop to ask if they were really for an FTO .. After he looked at it, there was no way he could make it fit, without having to chop, cut and re-mould ... So, he asked me to chat with UAS...

So a couple of calls later, they were asking if the panel shop was basically too lazy to fit them .. After I explained that they had fully completed the GSR/Evo respray from bare metal, and the work they did on it, they agreed to talk to the panel shop ..

So I had to take them back .. Picked em up from the shop, and a sticker on the back of the kit had "Carmate" .. So I now new the problem ..

Anyway, went out to UAS today, spoke to a guy there .. Gave me the same question about the panel shop might be to lazy to fit them .. Yet again, I explained the work they did on the GSR, and the extensive body work we had to do from dodgy repairs, and chassis straightening .. I advised that the kit was that bent, that we could put it in line with the rear quater, but there was no way the front came anywhere in allignment with the front guard... Advised the only way to make it fit was as mentioned above.....

I also advised that in the FTO community, we know Carmate stuff does not fit, and that he should think twice about re-selling some of their products... I also stated that on his website, it was like they were using a different supplier, as the pics were different and they were more expensive... I advised that if I had of known that Carmate was the maker, I would have gone to DMD ...

Full refund came my way ... 8)

So I was half expecting a fight, but the guys at UAS must care more about customer opinion above proffit ... For this, they will now get my thumbs up for any service issue ...
I just had to add it ......

Yeah, time has been the killer .. I was waiting for those skirts for well over 6 weeks.. It was before Christmas when I ordered them ..

But yeah, no re-stocking fee or anything charged.. So really happy with that...

I think I will go with the ones that Dwayne is getting done .. Not the style I was after, but at least these will match the new front bar ... And with all the wheels now matching, the car will be looking hot ... May even get the panel shop to spray my rims ... :)
