Well let me some it up for you mate. You either have something wedged behind the accelerator restricting you from planting your foot all the way down or your car is SERIOUSLY FU****.

No mate, that's the way the car's built. It's been like this for a long time & I've had various other GRs to compare with. Besides, mine was also not modded in any way unlike the GPXs which are more commonly pre-modded by their owners in Japan before being imported over here.

You're vehicle is 200kg lighter and produces 35kW more then a manual 2002 camry and also produces more horsepower..

So you should easily leave a 2002 2.2i camry for dead.

The 3.0i camry pulls 13kW more then your vehicle however the weight difference between the two vehicles should flatten things out a lot more...

Throw an air intake and exhaust on your vehicle and you should have no problem leaving the bigger v6 2995cc camry for dead.

As for a GPX....Things get a lot easier as the stock would punish any camry..

But hey, who wants to race a silly camry anyway? haha..

Now lets clarify a bit of psychology here. Most people don't go out of their way to buy an expensive, good looking, imported grand tourer just for the "smooth" driving experience. From my own experience, a top-end Camry or Magna can provide an equally smooth driving experience and is cheaper (e.g. insurance, repair & sale price). Most people drive a head-turner to turn heads because of ego, whether they like to admit it or not. People like to be admired but nobody's gonna turn their heads to look at a vanilla Lancer or Camry because firstly, they're not known as performance cars and secondly, they are quite plain in design, unlike the FTO. So, it's good to know how so many FTO drivers're sensible & staid drivers, but lets not kid ourselves, if your life depended on you to outpace another car in the same price range, an FTO is quite an unlikely to be your first choice.

The thing about the FTO is that its awesome looks promises significantly more than its performance can deliver.

For sure, there is an ego boost, but it's an intrinsic reward. It makes me feel good about myself to own a car that looks and drives well. But that's all in my 'own space' (let's not go there ) not measured against what other people do and say.

i love the attention (except from the cops) cause when ever im with the girlfriend park at the beach or at the shops and theres a bunch of guys around they stare at my car and dont eyeball her which is quite rare as it seems to happen almost everywhere we go.

i bought the fto though for its looks not particularly for the power the other cars i was looking at were celica, mx5 etc

i get way to much attention from the cops though. i got pulled over by 2 bike cops for RBT twice in the same place within 30 minutes and they acted if they didnt realised it was the same car and that they constantly had p-platers driving red ftos past them. if i was sober 30 minutes ago and i realised they were there and decided to drink i wouldnt bloody drink drive past the same spot


btw the fto also holds it own against a 6l v8 calais for about 1-2 seconds before it gets left for dead

Maybe because the calais has 110kW more at the flywheel haha..
That'the latest model VE 6L calais..

The only reason I can see why the fto would hold it's own during the first few seconds is because it weighs just over 500kg less and is a front wheel drive. Once the calais get's it's fat arse moving though there is no chance after that

I've had my car for 4 years+ I have a full kit and rims and a very noticable wing but why doesnt ever try to race me? I usually stick to the speed limit and drive normally and people always leave me alone.
