Hi all,
Well my alternator packed it in on the weekend. Ive decided to get it re-conditioned but Im unsure how to get it out. This seems the best way to go if it works
In addition to the other suggestions here is a method I used to
change the alternator on my GPX. I put it on some cheap ramps bought from
halfords and crawled underneath. I removed the manifold after undoing 7
nuts and disconnected it from the CAT by undoing the 2 nuts at the bottom
of the manifold. This took about 30 minutes but would have been quicker
only I have just undergone some shoulder surgery. No need to worry about
the gaskets because they are metal and reusable. The alternator slips
right out with no problem. Assembly was just the reverse and slightly
quicker.
Can anyone confirm this is the best way to go? Thanks in advance.
How do I Remove the alternator?

hmmmm last time when i saw my mechanic do it, he just drop the suspension on the side, so it will give him more room & the alternator was out in 10-15mins.
But i don't know the exact details, i ask him when i c him.

Well the elec guys said it was a diode (which it was to a degree but they couldnt test it cause of the ecu thing) so got all excited took it home and put it back in. Turned on the car AND........ still only getting around 13v damnit. Not taking that back out again untill I here from FTO338 and how to get it out in 15 mins!!! The exaust manifold is a pain cause theres 7 bolts in insane positions which you have to do from under the car. Then theres the 4 on the actual exaust. Screw doing that again!! CALLING FTO338 how do you get the altinator out in 15mins!!!!!!!!
