My mate filled up on Ultimate yesterday and it cost him $1.15 a litre! Bloody insane prices. I'm in tight arse mode atm, driving like a granny and waiting till the tank is almost empty before I fill up. Drastic times call for drastic measures.
Yeah, as soon as oil prices go up, watch the petrol price soar!!!!!! I gotta say it's gettin a bit out of hand!! a little relief would b good, prices round me are from $1.13 to $1.19!! and thats when they go down!!
I too remember in 98 when petrol was about 60-65c a litre, how cheap would it b to fill up!!
My mate went through $90 worth of fuel last week. He has a boosted Skyline and it chews through petrol. He's decided he'll drive his old Charade more often now.

I hope no one ownes a car that has such high petrol needs in the outback
ATM, i'm using 96RON fuel, as it's only 104c per liter... and yes me drive granny style too
I think we can all blame Mr. Bush over there for this
AS someone whoe lives in the 'outback' I can say that in at least this area fuel prices are about the same as what has been talked about here. But then again we only get SHell's 98 octane up here. BP reckon the fuel goes off before it gets here.
Doesn't the 98 RON fuel cost about 8-10 cents dearer than reg ULP? If so, then you shouldn't be paying any more than $1.10/L unless you're filling up at the wrong times!!! Try filling up outside of peak hour traffic times and usually before the weekend (eg thursday). I filled up on fri at 2pm at BP and paid 107.1c/L for Ultimate.
Dam i miss my petrol card, never knew the petrol price until now

i drive my car only on weekends (or when i see that the fuel price is cheap - usually tuesdays down here) so i dont burn thru that much cash - only doing around 300-400k's per month.
Greedy governments!!! Just think - with their excise and gst they must be making a killing! compared to those '98 figures posted.
i only ever put petrol in the car on tuesday mornings...it is ALWAYS cheaper than any other time: servos put their prices up when they get a new load of fuel (usually tuesday nights/wednesday mornings), and also for the weekend...
this latest price jump has hurt me a lot despite that, though, seeing as i have no option but to use 98 octane (the motor was originally designed for 100 octane!) fortunately my car isnt *that* thirsty, but im starting to see 55-60 dollars for a full tank (45 litres)...
bastards...
why can't everyone just get along and share stuff...especially stuff i want!
Blah, over here in NZ we are paying $1.29 for 96 or 98 if you can find it. Although I think if you take in to account the dollar diff, its similar to what you guys are paying..
I've read it on the papers today that the OPEC have been getting many complaints from many of the countries that supply fuel and are going to act on producing more fuel....
Hpefully that means the petrol prices will go down some what soon!
i just got home from my bball game and notice that only shell was offering unleaded petrol at 97.5cents!? every other servo was charging $1.02! i dont fill my car up with unleaded but shells fuel is far cheaper than other servos at the moment, hopefully it can last till thursday!
I've stopped complaining about fuel prices ever since I went to the UK... they pay over a pound a litre for fuel (you get 40p for a dollar - that makes it around $2.50-$3 per litre)
On a side note, what I did notice on my jaunt around the country the other week was that the quality of the "premium" fules varied dramatically - ESPECIALLY with the opticrap.... the most consistant I found was the Caltex vortex i think it's called.... got under 9L/100k for vortex VS 12L/100k on one particualr tank of opticrap
All said and done, 10c/L price difference makes only $4 diff on a tank full...
