Faster Car...BAH!

Post by pagan »

this is a little long but my other half nagged me to write it as it just happened again on the way home earlier this day.

i know there are faster cars on the road, most much more expensive. but a little game i have been playing for the past few months since i got the FTO to shame the "faster" straight line cars is to take them into FTO territory.

its amazing how often i had hero's tailgating me at rediculous millimetres in their xr8's and 6's and BMW m5 wannabes (usually with a mate in another model car behind them to scoop up the nuts and bolts :D ) this pisses me off obviously since i was still learning my own car and didnt want to do stupid things.... NOW is a different story.

when it happens im usually close to home between 5 and 7 in the evening when all the morons are out in their hot cars. when they sneak up and tailgate i accelerate hard, not full power just hard. they keep up of course and think look at this piss weak car. unfortunatly for them i know my area like the back of my hand as well as every corner and its speed and axis like the back of my hand. after a min maybe i floor it pull away a bit and take full steam into a favourite blind corner near home its a full 180C corner very sharp (i take this corner at break neck speed coz i have done it a million times slightly increasing power each time until i found the no go zone) taking this corner at full tilt, which they cant see because they are tailgating they attempt it too :D not only do i fly ahead becasue my car is built for handling they disapear when they realise what they have done, slam the brakes and slide out and almost lose it LOL. then i floor it around several more bends and with any luck they would have tried to catch up after looking like morons infornt of their mates in the car, but when they turn on to the main strip there i am turning off about 2 minutes ahead LMAO i LOVE IT! i get an adrenaline rush every time. i think this is the equivilent of a traffic light dash for the FTO. Ive made fools of WRX's and SKYLINES! becasue their cars cant handle it... NO... becasue 90% of them are wankers who only bought the car coz it could move quick off the lights, wouldnt have a clue how to actually drive it without killing them selves. one block in a VT commador came very VERY close to completely losing it and smashing so i got a bit worried just that once. but all in all its just a little pay back from the FTO to the rest of the pack LOL

PS i strongly recomened you do NOT do this unless you are so familier with the streets you try it in that you could drive blindfolded. (not literally of course) unlike a race track there is no forgiveness on the streets for a mistake. Please be VERY carefull.... for yourself and yes even the guy OR girl you make a monkey of in your rearview mirror :D i would hate to hear of something going bad to one of the FTO clan becasue i gave you a method of pay back.

also my mivec doesnt work, i wonder how they would feel knowing they just got shat on by an underpowered FTO

happy hunting my pretties MUAHAHAHAHAH

(PSS how was my effort of sounding like a cared for the FTO victims MUAHAHAh im a sadistic bastard and proud :D:D:D:D:D:D:

Hmmmm....I am glad that I am not driving around your streets! Taking a blind corner at speeds like that, especially apexing it, is very dangerous. Not just to yourself, but cars coming the other way. I am hoping that you are only doing this at night time (can spot headlights etc) but still...

However, I do agree with your post in general. The FTO was never designed with straight line speed in mind, and anyone who buys one would have to be aware of this. It makes up for this with it's superb handling and balance, and ease of driving it "on the limit".

It is still not a great idea to drive like that in busy areas! Although we have probably all done something similar at some point, especially when "provoked", things like this give FTO drivers and import drivers in general a bad name and also give insurance companies another reason to increase insurance premiums etc.

But, all the same, good work for scoring some points for FTO's! I am sick of people saying that they are "only about looks", especially when they have never driven one.

While i don't condone reckless driving in any way i have to agree with pagan!!

I'm so sick of pulling up at the lights and being "chalenged" by WRX's Soarers and even GTR's!!! I'm not stupid enough to think that i can beat them off the lights, and so what if i could?? Straight line speed is good and all but it's not exactly the test of your driving abilities!! So often iv'e watched these idiot P platers (no offense intended as i am one 2!!) hoon off at a million miles an hour only to have me not only catch up to them but overtake and loose them as soon as a couple of corners apear!!

And while its not rite of me to chuckle when they slightly lose control when takin a corner too fast to try and catch up, it shows just how much these people don't really know their cars!! I mean whats the point of owning such wonderful machines and only every driving them in a straight line??? sounds kinda boring to me........

similar situation here, before i actually bought my car, my friends with 300zx twin turbos, GTRs and basically all imported turbo cars u can think of, didnt look that favourably on my purchase.
Once i took them for a spin and showed them the FTOs neutral and outstanding handling, their impressions have completely changed and giv it the respect it deserves.
Obviously i know its not built for straight line performance , what its non turbo anyway, so just think how those people with turbo FTOs have fun when they blow S15's and WRXs.

I agree with everyone here, ppl do under estimate FTO when it comes to corner, especially AWD ppl. But when u wipe that little smile off their face after few coners are just priceless.

but the obring way is the only way really! Most people dont care about handling, becuase they have never owned a good handling car in their life. They care only about strait line speed, and thats it.

Well, where do you have the most fun in a car, driving in a straight line for a few seconds, or pushing a wonderfully balanced and responsive car through several km's of twisty challenging road?

TT 300zx's, Soarers, even Supras are not all they are cracked up to be. And who would own a 300zx? They would have to be sponsored by a mechanic, or have very deep pockets.

Of course, nobody could ever accuse a GTR of being an unbalanced car only about straight line speed. They are one of the quickest cars over any piece of blacktop you care to mention.

Which reminds me, can't wait for the Putty Rd cruise later in the year.

oh i agree, i mean straight line speed is power, and timing and i wouldn't deny any car out there it's glory, i mean Supra's GTR's they r quite incrediable cars, i should b so lucky as to own a R34 GTR one day 8) but all i was saying is that as good as a car is, it's only as good as the driver behind the wheel!

I mean GTR's WRX's these are AWD performance cars and with the extra power under the bonnet, they should b able to blow me away, yet most of the drivers can't!![/i]

I completely agree with you....when you beat someone through the bendies, they dont look at your car and go "woah...that car handled awesomely", they go "farout....that guys nuts!"

the car isnt respected for great handling ...the driver is criticised for being reckless... and its sad..... :(

And THAT's why you should all get that CAMS/motorkhana event stuff organised as fast as humanly possible!

Because then, instead of trying to impress the brainless idiot tailgating you (and face it, who cares if they impress a brainless idiot), you get to hang out with like-minded people who realise that there's a lot more to fast times than holding down the right-hand pedal... with people who are keen to learn about car control, and give credit where it's due... and where "nice driving!" is heard a lot more often than "nice car!". :)

ahh story time! and the point is...
(I like stories! - Homer)

Just a few weeks ago a Malaysian buddy of mine owned a beautiful Sprinter Trueno, and his mate had a Levin. Plates "Trueno" and "Levin" funnily enough. One night we went for a little cruise, and one of their other buddies came in my car.

Great crew and these are your typical overseas students.

Just as we started out the driveway he asks how long I've had my car. I said nearly 4 years, asked how much I paid and I said $20K.
Then the next question is:
"$20K? why didn't you buy a Skyline?"
after twitching my neck a little to that statement about my little FTO's nemisis I replied,
"Well... I like to be unique... you dont see many FTO's around to Skylines, and well anyway... I just fell in love with them"
"ahh... ok, but they are faster!"
I smile and tell him: " ...I beat Skylines..."
"What?!"

Anyway, long story short, it was a beautifully cold night perfect for showing off!
I took him for a fang and he couldn't belive how fast it was in a straight line or around corners.
He told me it blew away any expectation he had, he said he thought the FTO was a girls car and just a show car, and at the end of the night he told me "I'm have been converted!" and was telling me how much he wants one now! started calling up his friends telling them how cool it was!

I loved this! a big up to the Fresh Touring Origination!

Anyway, brought a smile to my face!

:)

I had to agree with you there, I had a 300zxTT, it had 250rwkw but cause of its weight, it haven't got an impressive 1/4 miles & it cost me $60 bucks a day in petrol, & my mechanic hates the bloody thing, cause its hard to service it.

please remember that racing on the roads is dangerous and illegal...

regardless of how well you know your car they are called accdients for a reason (you weren't planing to crash were you)...

if you get caught you can loose your license
if you crash you could yourself or worse kill someone else

at the same time ;)...... i'll happily challenge any 2wd car to a handling test

lol people you think these people dont care if you beat them in corners!
whenn they have mates in the car they care OH YEAH they care. the reason he has mates in his car is coz his car is considered better then the others, hence why they ride with him, second he no doubt talks the crp about how good it is. when he guns it and his target in front starts slipping away, and then he looses it coz he is frustrated and pushes to hard, when sometimes less power is more in a certain bend, he feels it, how do you know... COZ I WOULD!. yeah i agree they may say what a crazy bugger, most likely will, but at the same time, they will be saying, "Shut up (insert name) what you gonna do with your car you got done by an FTO with half the power." LOL :D must remember that anyone with the arrogance to tailgate like a hero, obviously has a hgh opinion of him/herself and the car.

also i did say that i dont do that EVERYwhere, just that corner, i took it for years in my Kingswood, VB, then VH brock group 3, then VL, mazda protege (lol) and now the FTO. i know a commawhore man all the way, but it was the little mazda that showed me the light about jap cars. for what it is, a daily driver, its a very nice car to just drive normally every day work and back. i thought sheesh if their daily drivers are like this whats the sports cars like. the FTO has made me content in the car i have...FINALLY!

PS i put a full kit on the protege LOL it came up wicked, my olds fell in love with it so i gave it to them for help in getting an FTO.
