I will most likely be catching a taxi or something to MILSONS POINT, where the car is located.. so is UA far from there?

WIth that said.. I just did a quick check with revs, can someone explain wtf this means?

"THERE ARE FINANCIAL INTERESTS RECORDED AGAINST THE SUPPLIED VEHICLE
IDENTIFIERS

VEHICLE DETAILS MATCHED WITH RTA "

Does this mean money is owing on the car?

minor accidents are no big drama, its the major ones u obviously have to look out for.
Yes, i do realise there are a lot of crappy FTOs out there and i am blessed (knock on wood) to have one of a few that was imported by the actual owner and doesnt have one single scratch on it, but on the other hand i sometimes feel really reluctant to put any sort of bodykit to my car because that will take away from its orginality :(

If the car yr looking at has some sort of dodgy repair to the bumper or hood just get aftermarket ones. they are cheaper than the orginals and it'll make yr car look different.

Good luck with yr search

Yup, there is about $10,000 owing on the car, I just called him up, and told him, about the revs check...

So now, I'm back to ask for advice again :) You guys are great :)
What do you think I should do?
I want to pick up the car this w/e... I'm almost set on that.
He was hoping to pay out the car in a few months.

Obviously, I can't leave this debt on the car, and trust that he will pay it out.. it's just plain stupid.

Now I've offered him, to make out 10,000 or so of the cheque to the fianceer company, that way, only the financier company can depost it, and the amount owing will be cleared. However, I really have no idea, on what actual amount is owing, and since it is interstate, I don't have the time to sit up there in sydney, and wait on cofirmation from the finacier.. Does anyone know, if I can actually just speak to the financier directly?

What do you guys suggest"? He was hoping to pay the amount owing in a few months, is there perhaps a way for him to offload the due amount? Somehow?

found this....

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/ ... ndbook.pdf

or you can call them (REVS) on 1800 424 988 and they will advise what steps you need to take....

Hope this helps

Cheers

If it was me I wouldn't touch the car if there was money owing on it. Although the bloke said there is 10gs left to pay on the car, I wouldn't take his word for it. But if you do decide to go after it, make sure that when he pays it off he shows you proof it's been paid and something from the financer showing you it's clear.

I had the same problem when I was looking to purchase a Skyline. Car was great, but there was money owing on it. Owner promised he'd pay it all off, but alas he didn't and ended up selling it to some poor sod with the money still owing on it.

In situations like this it is important not to rush anything, I know you have been looking for an fto for ages, but an extra week isn't going to hurt that much.

Because the amount that the guy owns changes fortnightly, it is important that you get the precise amount to the cent. The owner has to ring up the finance company and get an exact amount.

If you want the car now, the best way would be for the guy to ring the finance company, get a amount that he owns faxed to him, then he faxes you that quote... that way you have a fax from the finance company, so atleast he can't make up any numbers.

You can then get two cheques.
BUT I'm not sure what will hapen if say the guy looses the cheque, or doesn't pay... Will the finance company have a go at Guni_GuGu? for the 10 grand?

The safer way is you tell the guy that your not buying the car until it doesn't have any debt on it, then you get the revs certificate for your sake, to show that it has not debt on it.

Am I talking gibberish?

Yeah they will. The cash owing is attached to the car that's why it's showing up in the REVS check. If Guni_GuGu buys the car they beat on him for the money as he's now the current owner. Now I got my FTO on finance, but it's attached to my name and not the car. I could sell the car today if I like and the new owner would have no worries. I would still have to pay out the money owing or they'll look at raping me for my other assets.

Its illegal to sell the car if its still got money owing on it, cause legally its belong to the finance company. So he can not sell the car to you unless he paid off every single cent (& i mean even 1cent).

If you decided to buy this vehicle, you can end up losing it to the finance company, plus the money you gave to the seller.

However, you can make a deal between the finance company & the seller.

I though I'd let you ya'll know...

I flew up to sydney... and

I DROVE BACK IN MY NEW BABY! :)

All in all, the car looked very good. It was such a relief, it even had a different lip, hard to explain, I'll post some pictures tomorrow or so.. (Although I do have a dbl-shift to work)

I'm absolutely wrecked from the drive now.. and i'm just going to go to sleep... but, this story did have a happy ending. For now at least...

I should say, the things that get me the most about the car though, and they are minor...

There is a chip in one of the front drivers side fog light, and one in the rear lights... Both are minor, and would be hard to spot, if you wern't lookin for it..
But i know their there! How much would they cost to fix?

And I've done something stupid already....
I left the petrol cap at the first servo in NSW <----- IDIOT!!! How can I get one of these?

Oh and one more thing that annoys me, the oil temp gauge, well it seems the coating thing on it, is peeling... can I like fix it up anyhow? Is it hard?

I'll be posting pics probably 2morrow.

The only way you can be sure of clearing the finance issue is to get a letter of release from the finance company that currently has a lien on the car.
